After the latest update 2/4/2025 Diablo III fails to play. Error message says … VCRUNTIME140_1.dll not found. Error message suggested reloading Diablo III may fix the issue. Seems the issue is caused by the new update. Any suggestions?
This is the PTR Bug Report forum. The PTR is currently shut down. You should move this thread to the Technical Support forum. If you’re on a Mac, then move it to the Mac Technical Support forum.
Moving Threads
- Click the pencil icon next to the title of your thread.
- Click the “Category” field to bring up a list of Forums.
- Find the proper Forum and select it.
- Save your edit.
This will move your thread to the selected Forum, including all replies.

This happened on 2 of my PC’s.
VCRUNTIME140_1.dll is a C++ file.
Go to microsoft (dot) com and search VC_redist.x64 (for 64 bit systems).
Download and run to reinstall all C++ files including the one missing.
Takes 5 mins and fixes the issue.
