Experiencing Patch 2.6.6

Saturday, August 10, 2019

I stopped playing D3 because I had completed Season 17 two months earlier and was beginning to get burnt out. Instead, I began playing D2:LoD for a change of pace.

Sunday, August 18, 2019

I ran D3 and took the time to clean out my Stash, Normal and Hardcore. I salvaged everything I didn’t want and put what I wanted to keep in my Characters’ Inventories to avoid having to deal with in-game mail when the Season ended later that night. (8:00 PM my time). I then went back to playing D2:LoD.

At 12:50 PM (9:50 AM Blizzard time) I ran the Blizzard Desktop App in anticipation of the deployment of Patch 2.6.6. The Patch began around 1:20 PM (my time). When D3 finished patching I closed the App.

Today I decided to play D3 again. Now that Patch 2.6.6 was Live I thought it would be a good time to see if I could get the new Blacksmith Plans and a few of the new versions of the Legendary items.

So far, I’ve run two relatively short game sessions on Torment XVI (T16). In the first session, earlier today, I completed Bounties for Act I and Act II. I encountered a couple of Treasure Goblins, but no Odious Collectors or other Goblins. Besides the usual loot, I acquired:

  • An Ancient The Flavor of Time Amulet, which I stashed.
  • A Primal Omryn’s Chain Belt. :stuck_out_tongue:
  • The Plan: Cain’s Destiny from the Act II Bounty Cache.

In the second session, which I just left a few minutes ago, I finished the round of Bounties, completing Act III, Act IV and Act V. I encountered a couple of Goblins, one of which was an Odious Collector. Unfortunately, it did not drop any Plans. During that session I picked up:

  • The Flavor of Time Amulet, which I extracted in Kanai’s Cube.
  • The Plan: Aughild’s Authority from a Bounty Cache. (I forget which Act).

So, for only running one full round of Bounties, I feel pretty lucky. In the next game session, either later tonight or sometime tomorrow, I hope to pick up Squirt’s Necklace and the Plan: Captain Crimson’s Trimmings.

Good luck and good hunting to the rest of you. :bow_and_arrow:

I kinda did the same thing haha. I spent a month playing Nintendo Switch and writing music, after about two months of going full blast on season 17. I didn’t play on patch day, but today I got on and did some bounties / tried out UE Multishot with the new Captain Crimson’s.
Oh by the way, I upgraded about 40 rare Amulets before getting Squirt’s.

Oh! Great idea! :+1:

I keep forgetting I’m in non-Season. Got a full Stash Tab half full of Bovine Bardiches and half full of Puzzle Rings. Some of them Ancient.

I also have plenty of Mats, so upgrading Rare Amulets should be no problem.

Thanks!

Went in for another short game session. I ran a couple of T16 Vaults. No luck getting the Plan: Captain Crimson’s Trimmings.

Next, I ran a Greater Rift. I picked up my first Legacy of Dreams Legendary Gem and maxed my Blood Shards.

Since I have gear collected from several Seasons, I decided to gamble for Amulets. Got a not-so-good Squirt’s Necklace from Kadala and a bunch of Rare Amulets, which I stashed to upgrade later. The Rift Guardian also dropped another Puzzle Ring for me. :stuck_out_tongue:

I ended the session by running an Ancient Vault. Wall-to-wall Goblins all the way to Greed! Still no Captain Crimson’s.

Getting late here, and I’m getting tired. Time to call it a night.

So… Night, all.

I got my LOD gem up to rank 50. Gonna wait for a time where I have both my accounts logged in before I run bounties. Probably should have done the same for the LoD leveling during early ranks.

Yeah. When I picked up my first Legacy of Dreams I upgraded it to Rank 4. And then I realized I should have continued upgrading a Rank 37 Boon of the Hoarder instead. This new UE/Crimson’s build I want to play around with uses Boon of the Hoarder. And since I don’t usually play LoN builds, there no reason for me to upgrade the Dreams Gem at this time.

I’m about to have breakfast and work on my morning coffee. Then, I may run some more Bounties to see if I can get the Plan: Captain Crimson’s Trimmings to drop, either from an Odious Goblin or a Bounty Cache. I think that’s the only one I have left to teach Haedrig.

Chow… I mean ciao. :plate_with_cutlery: + :fried_egg: + :coffee:

Another short game session this morning. Ran Bounties for Act I and Act II.

  • Act I: No Plan: Captain Crimson’s Trimmings.
  • Act II: No Plan: Captain Crimson’s Trimmings.

I even found a Bandit Shrine in Act II. Of all the Goblins that spawned from it, none of them were an Odious Collector and no Crimson’s Plan. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m going to try and finish Act III, Act IV and Act V later today. But then, I’m going to wait until tomorrow night, when Season 18 begins, to play any more.

Cheers!

I guess I got lucky. I did a bounty run last night with my DH and had an Odius drop Crimson’s

Then I logged on to my Invoker since I hadn’t played her in a while. I started a level 75GR to goof around and I felt like a punching bag that couldn’t do any damage. I had to cut the game short so I logged in this morning before work and found out that I had removed Boyarsky’s and Bane of the Trapped

Congratulations!

It has always been my gaming luck to get everything I don’t need or use first. Only then do I begin to find the things I actually need. And even at that point, I may not get them all. :frowning:

Fortunately, it has never kept me from completing a Season Journey. :+1:

I’m right there with you on that. My favorite two instances were when I was trying for days to pull Yang’s Recurve for my Demon Hunter only to have 2 ancient drop on the same Rift Guardian (mind you this was an alt that I had already farmed 4 sets for the season journey). With this same DH I ran into my first Rainbow Gob but it was when I had set the difficulty to high while leveling, and I couldn’t kill it before it ran away

Same here plus I hit a Bandit Shrine while leveling in S17…was around lvl 30 or so and I think I only managed to kill like 2 of the gobs…

This was the second game session for today. And, this time, it was a long one.

First, I completed the Bounty run I started earlier today.

  • Act III: No Plan: Captain Crimson’s Trimmings.
  • Act IV: I encountered an Odious Collector, but it didn’t drop the Plan. And no Plan from the Bounty Cache.
  • Act V: No Plan: Captain Crimson’s Trimmings.

I then started another round of Bounties working backwards from Act V.

  • Act V: No Plan: Captain Crimson’s Trimmings.
  • Act IV: No Plan: Captain Crimson’s Trimmings.

At this point I was getting bored with Bounties and decided to run a couple of T16 Ancient Vaults.

  • The first Ancient Vault didn’t seem to have very many Goblins in it. And no Crimson’s Plan was dropped.
  • The second Ancient Vault was wall-to-wall Goblins again. But, still no Plan.

I then decided to run some Greater Rifts and upgrade my Rank 37 Boon of the Hoarder. When the LGem reached Rank 45, I ran one last Empowered GRift. The Rift Guardian was Bone Warlock (Skeleton King). Besides maxing out my BotH, he dropped Squirt’s Necklace. Not much better than the one I got from Kadala the other day.

I also maxed my Blood Shards. I gambled for Amulets again. But, Kadala didn’t give me anything noteworthy. I stashed the Rare Level 70 Amulets to upgrade later.

Next I wanted to try and finish the Bounty run I started. I only ended up completing Act III. Still no Plan. :stuck_out_tongue:

I stopped to upgrade 10 Amulets. I got 2 not very good Squirt’s and 1 Ancient The Flavor of Time.

Finally, I created a Wizard alternate and spent the rest of the session leveling her up. Luckily I had enough currency to set her up to gain max Level pretty quick, running Solo. I even had a friend ask me if I needed help with her. But, by that time, she was already Level 69 with 1278 Paragon Points.

Once she hit Level 70, I ended the session. And that’s it for me. I’m taking tomorrow off (from D3) to rest up for Season 18. I guess I’ll just have to farm for the Crimson’s Plan then and let it transfer over at the end of the Season. :persevere:

Here’s hoping all of you have better luck than I’ve had.
