Experience /Paragon points question

Hey all,
The season ended and the paragon points were divided up between my non-season characters. I have a barbarian that was at lvl 19 and I took him up to lvl 70 and gave him the Horde-Savages set that I had in stash. He has 873 paragon points.

Took him out for a GR and noticed that the experience bar didn’t move. Upped it to a GR40 and it only moved a tiny fraction. When I was running Neph Rifts to level him it was moving as expected as he leveled.

Since he now has a great amount of P-points should he be leveling super slow even on GR40?

Guess I do not know if this is an issue or working as intended. Any guidance appreciated. Thanks!

At paragon 873, a GR40 is barely going to move it at all. At that paragon you should be doing GR80 +.

Thanks ! I bumped it up randomly to GR40, but it makes since on it not moving. Appreciate the confirmation!

The XP needed to increase your paragon increases exponentially with each level gained. So, doing a GR40 at paragon 1 might move your bar a lot, it’ll barely touch it at paragon 873. You might enjoy this… http://rerollcalculator.com/Paragon

Let’s take a quick example, of trying to double, or triple your current paragon…
XP required to level from Paragon 1 to Paragon 873 = 5.226 trillion
XP required to level from Paragon 873 to Paragon 1746 = 74.813 trillion
XP required to level from Paragon 1746 to Paragon 2619 = 176.27 trillion

So, getting from your current paragon to triple your current paragon would take 74.813 + 176.27 trillion XP = 251.083 trillion XP.

In other words, levelling from paragon 1 to 2619 is like levelling from paragon 1 to 873 over 48 times. This is why, at higher paragon levels, you need to be doing much higher GR ranks to earn meaningful XP.

Great write up. But it’s kinda depressing when your break it down that way.

At 873 paragon with all viable and properly put together builds can handle level 80-100 easily. I was speed farming 90s with a fresh barb at 800 paragon. At 1500 I one keyed a 115 in 10 minutes. Now I know my way around barb better then most but 80 plus speeds at 800 paragon should be easy even for new barbs.

Great replies everyone! Meteorblade, thanks for breaking it down like that.

I’m learning the Savages set and its mechanics so he’s moving along up the GR and Neph lift ladder.
