The Enchantress always seems like the best follower with being able to turn mobs into Chickens irresistible.
Normally I always look to put the recommended Sultan of the Blinding Sand as the recommended Weapon from Guilds. Since I had not found one yet, I had picked up an Azurewrath and gave it to her. I was amazed. Seemed that she was freezing bosses very regularly and more often since the Azurewrath sword has a faster attack speed.
Still some testing to do on this as I progress up GRs, but this seemed like something to share.
The weapons you mention are decent options, but the best weapon for all followers remains the Thunderfury sword, together with the Wyrdward ring equipped. Try it, you will see the difference on the RGK.
I’ve always used The Tormenter staff, which has a chance to charm on hit, and the Overwhelming Desire amulet, which increases damage on charmed enemies by 35%.
But then, I rarely put a lot of thought into my followers. As long as they have an Oculus Ring and Unity (if needed) I just throw them whatever scraps look good. Once the 2.7.0 patch hits with the follower overhaul, I’ll start min-maxing my followers a bit more. Should be fun.
I’m really sad about this. That is (was ) my favorite follower ability. I have such fond memories of being in the thick of battle with the Enchantress and she saves my neck by turning someone like Diablo into a chicken…
Changing the Damage of the Sultan or the Azurewrath to Lighting allows for the Wyrdward Ring Synergy. The Thunderfury ability is listed as a chance to activate. From what I have read chance to hit is 1 in 5 or 20%, Azurewrath is up to 25% with an attack speed of 1.4 as opposed to Sultan having an up to 40% chance to blind, but with a reduced attack speed of 1.1.
I need to revue the 2.7 rule change on Enchantress chickens.
Doesn’t work on rift guardians, O-desire is kinda useless. Overall ess of johan is best in slot unless you have a build that requires no cc on follower.
The reason behind using thunder fury and wydward is to not cc the bejesus out of the rift guardian to the point he becomes immune or “DRed” from constantly hard locked.
Thunderfurys slow effect is a soft cc, and wydward has a chance to stun is a hard cc.
Blind is a soft cc.
Freeze is a hard cc.
Best explained like this.
A typical monster has 100 points of cc value refreshing 10 point every second.
Soft cc’s like blind, slow, chill all take 10 points
Hard cc’s like stun, freeze, charm, immobilize are 40 points…
If you stun the rg twice (-80), you can’t stun again till the value gas refreshed to 40.
Then 4 second intervals.
Hence the slow effect on thunderfury is handy to always slow them down to proc trapped for ranged, but also not to lock him immune to cc
This is absolutely true, especially on Scoundrel follower. But in S22 I’ve managed to play 3 builds who don’t need Ess/Johan because my characters do all the grouping. (WW/Rend Barb, PoJ Monk, LoD Twister Wiz). So I’ve been exploring other follower amulets. Overwhelming Desire is the one I finally settled on.
It’s only going to work if your follower is charming the target you want like a yellow elite or something, wont do anything for rg.
If the follower isn’t gonna use ess of johan it can use dovu energy trap to extend the stun times without more cc
I would like the Enchantress to be my own developed Wizard.
-this a-RPG would shine as a diamond when 1-3 characters as followers would be implemented…at least for the PvE fans.
agreed. the removal of that skill, and the lack of any other CC spell makes the enchantress useless as a follower, and no more useful than the other two, which also has a lack of CC abilities. i will most likely dismiss her and never use her again if that happens.
From what I’ve seen during my tests on the PTR, she might actually become the go to follower for speed running bounties and Nephalem Rifts.
It seems that the Templar is the only one with a proper cheat death which will make him the one for GR pushing.
Since I’ve been away quite some time from Diablo 3 and missed a lot of the changes of legendary affixes during the last seasons, I’m surprised that the enchantress isn’t used with The Executioner for GRs. Is there something that I miss? Killing off the rift guardian in one hit sounds nice on paper.
