Some legendary affix properties are working (activated) through followers but not labeled with Emanate:
- Ess of Johan
- Cord of the Sherma
For these specific items they are on hit activation, and are being activated from the follower’s attacks. Either they need to be:
A) labeled with Emanate and proc from the player’s attacks instead.
B) need labeling or notation in patch notes to indicate that they will work from the follower, but will not Emanate.
C) be removed from potential activation from the follower entirely.
As you can tell, I think C) is the worst option as Ess of Johan in particular has been a staple follower item for quite a while. We just need to know how this is supposed to work for this type of item, considering there is a new system in place.
These are just the few examples I found of on hit items within 5 minutes’ time. There are others. Feel free to respond to this bug report with your findings.
By the way, thanks! The follower revamp has me really excited as a (mostly) solo player.
I think you may mix up Emanate with active item properties working for your follower while they are carrying certain equipment. Ess of Johan, Cord of Sherma, Oculus Ring, Pox Faulds, etc. work because the Follower is wearing them, just like your own char would be wearing them. Emanate means that you inherit an item property while your Follower is wearing the item, e.g. Flavor of Time, Spaulders of Zakara, etc. So I do not see a bug here, both categories of items work as expected.

Thanks Oetti.
I suppose you are correct, there technically is not anything wrong with the items I listed; but how these items are supposed to behave is unclear. Guess I mostly just want notation on how this type of item is supposed to behave.
Oculus Ring is a curious case though. It procs from the player, not the follower, and has for quite some time. However, it is NOT labeled with emanate. It should be.
I understand that labeling doesn’t feel like a bug, but it’s very misleading to the player when things are, or are not labeled correctly.
The way they are working for me is that items that are not class specific and do not emanate work on my Follower the same way as if I were wearing them. Previously only rings and amulets worked that way (like Oculus Ring). Now there are more items that work in the same way (e.g. Pox Faulds, when there are more than 3 enemies around my follower they’ll turn green (I love it)). I also equipped my Follower with a Gem of Efficacious Toxin, and Eun-Jang-Do but not sure if those work or are supposed to work, but on higher Torment levels your Follower will not make any mentionable damage anyway.
In contrast the items that Emanate are more like an additional slot in the Cube, e.g. Flavor of Time, which would do nothing for your Follower or yourself it the follower would just wear it, but with Emanate it helps enormously since you inherit the extra time from your Follower when you activate a Pylon. I would recommend to play around and equip your follower with all sorts of non-class specific gear to see if you can leverage them for game-play.
Maybe Follower sets would be an idea for the future but that would go into the other forum…
P.S.: Same as before, Legendary Gems do not work on the Follower.

Goldskin (is on the list for emanate) also dont work correctly:
My barb has 7000% Goldfind, when i give him a Goldskin (100% more Goldfind) the Goldfind goes up to 14000%
But when i give Goldskin to the Follower the Barb only has 7020% Goldfind !
No buddy it works correctly, gold skins legendary is what emanates, the secondary in blue text don’t.
When it comes to items that are labeled Emanates, think of your Follower as extra Cube Slots. You equip the item in the Cube (your Follower), but your Character receives (and triggers) the Power.
Many items are not labeled Emanates and work for your Follower like items that are equipped on your Character. (As Oetti explained). And there are some items that just don’t work for Followers.
Followers have never been able to use Legendary Gems. (Except the Gem of Ease in a Level 70 Weapon when you start a new Character). It’s best to put main-stat Gems in your Followers’ gear.

I’m not sure about Eun-Jang-Do. I would think that it works for the Templar and Enchantress. To trigger it they don’t have to do Damage. They just need to attack an enemy, but it won’t trigger unless the enemy is below a certain Life %.
Ah, I see you covered that. (I’m replying as I’m reading through the thread).
Yeah, I’ve mentioned that in two other threads already. Or even take some already existing Sets that no one uses and revamp them into Follower Sets.
Stedia is correct. The Goldskin Legendary Power says:
Chance for enemies to drop gold when you hit them.
Good luck and good hunting, all!
