Drop Rates for Items

Does anyone know if Blizzard has changed the drop-rates for certain items, since Season 16?

For instance, in Season 17, I had more Puzzle Rings than in previous seasons; however, since Season 17, I’ve not seen one Ring of Royal Grandeur. I’ve, also, noticed that acquiring needed items for my builds are becoming harder to find.

Has something changed, or is it just me?

Thanks!

How many act 1 caches have you collected, and at T level?

Nope. There have been no adjustments to any kind of drop rates within the time you’ve specified. I’m actually not sure the last time we’ve adjusted any particular drop rate. It’s not something we typically mess around with unless we’re removing or adding items permanently (or disabling in case of an emergency bug fix/exploit).

This season, not so much; but, in Season 17, I did much more, and at the higher torments. I just haven’t seen a RoRG since 17 started.

I’ll take your advice, and give it a go.

Thanks!

Having played most seasons, possibly all? -

It is truly RNG

I have some seasons where the RoRG has dropped climbing to 70 at hard level and other seasons where I had 100 runes from Tristram and no RoRG.

It’s ok the game seems to have an ironic sense of humour I notice and you’ll have to ask the dev’s on this one…
I find with regularity, the item I seem to take forever to get, suddenly, once getting it, keeps coming ad-nauseum.

Got my RoRG this season in the second run of 5 acts of bounties I farmed. The first round was during my 1-70 leveling, the second was at T16. So… RnG for you.

Copied straight into the D3FAQS.TXT file on my desktop for future use.

I heard they changed the random generator to depend on the player’s battle tag!
This way they can guarantee a 60% of success at upgrading legendary gem is always failure for some people! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I had to snicker a little. I’ve seen this from time to time - something that dropped like candy for me one season seems almost gone from the system the next season. It’s most notable when it is an item that you might collect or use.

For example, it seems like every season I get a puzzle ring early on and then use the BotH while leveling to become a billionaire within the first week.

This season I was already at 750M gold after 2 or 3 weeks and I was getting close to the end of the journey to the point where one of the few things I needed to do to complete the journey was to kill Greed. I did have one day where I saw 5 Gold Barons in a row, but never a Vault or a puzzle ring.

Then I finally got my first non-guaranteed Primal drop for the season (i.e. the one after the guaranteed one in the L70 rift) and it was… A Primal Puzzle Ring.

So, I was finally able to check off Greed, and it was only the second ancient Vault that I’ve been in, but I really didn’t need the money from the Vault or from the BotH any more. Sigh… :frowning:

Good to know.

Thanks for your time in responding!

While you’re here, are there any thought(s) about changing how reforging items work? For instance (and I’m sure you’ve heard this a lot), instead of endless re-rolls in the cube or converting set items, the cost for creating greater gear simply becomes exponentially more costly?

Yup, RNG (which is a great excuse for when they do tweak numbers behind the curtain).

In the early teens of seasons, I round rainbow goblins fairly early and it really helped with leveling. Didn’t impact the end game much for me, as I only went as far as chapter 5 or so.

But since then, I think I have seen 1 in the past five seasons. Some seasons I get the RROG (or is it RORG?) right away, other seasons, I have nearly 10 times as many act 1 bounty materials and no ring.

I never found Hack for my thorns crusader during her season. But found a good amount of ancients for my LON (season) WD.

So season to season, platform to platform, day to day, fortunes change. RNG is RNG.

Terrible RNG this week compared to the first 2 it is then. IN the beginning at least I got a primal a day, almost like clockwork. Now I cant even get an ancient, and it has been over a week since I saw that red light flashing up :frowning:

You’re worried about primal and ancients and I can’t even get any focus to drop regardless of quality lol

I remember, a few season back, and that was long before Haedrig Gift, you kid have it so easy, I couldn’t find any RoRG long after I was able to farm many T10 bounties. I was desperate too! :open_mouth:

If it helps, I got a primal Focus for my UE/MS DH this week.

Damn indeed, what is it with these rings, not like they do not drop. They are just all pure crap.

When it comes to jewelry, I just upgrade in the cube. DB’s are a lot easier to farm now. Just throw on Sage’s and you can comfortably get 100 DB’s a run. 10 T16 rifts in 1/2 an hour nets you 1000 DB’s. It costs 25 to upgrade so you in an hour you can upgrade 80 rings. Should be able to get Focus in an hour or 2 and you will probably also have 2-8 puzzles to go along with it.

It does not! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Since that post I got 3, all with lack luster rolls, but at least I’m getting the set bonus!

I just wonder why my luck is not to get the weapons or rings I need until the very end of the season, always. Why? I know Im not the only one but just once a little random luck might be nice.

If you have them at the end of the season, that’s good enough no ? It’s the only time you need to optimize your build for pushing. Rest of the season, it’s only for slightly more efficient xp/gear farming.
