"Downloading Additional Content"

Anyone else getting this on their loading screen when logging into a game session?

You normaly get that message when you start the game before the entire download is finished.

Same here, never had it, now pop’s up since the last update.

So, I have nothing to worry about?

yah, im guessing it was part of the bot prevention update.

It’s normal. When the download is over half way most of the crucial content is in place and the Start button will light up and let you play the game, but sometimes additional content will need to download before you can actually play.

After update I always get this message despite launcher says that client fully downloaded

think it’s injecting something every log in? is it gonna be a permanent process every time we log in?

Yeah. It’s saying downloading additional content everytime i login which is ridiculous. Looks fishy.

Seems like the skeleton crew keeping this game alive really launched a half baked patch that caused a whole lot of new things and problems… still zero word from the blues or anything at all.

Even if it was a security patch to kill cheats and the game is on maintenance mode it doesnt make any sense to have a game on this state considering the game was “fine” before this patch.

i didnt see any additions to the TOS agreement either. If this is spyware, is that even legal? Would they even legally need to disclose spyware being they are literally microsoft now and they own Windows? What is even going on, blizzard?

Sorry, I never experienced this. Wish I could help.

I haven’t either.

I’m not getting it either.

Rhetorical question: What’s the difference between “running” the Battle․net App and “logging in to” it? (I have mine set to always log me in when I run it).

Those of you getting this message:

Did you try to play before the update was completed originally?
(for future note, never do this)

It may be that you will need to remove the game files and re-download it to repair the issue.

  • Exit the battlenet launcher completely.
  • Open the Diablo III folder, then open the Data folder. Delete all the files in the Data folder, but not the folder itself.
  • Restart the launcher, it should then have an update option.
  • Update and do NOT play the game till the update is completely done.

The message is only appearing AFTER I start up a game session in Adventure mode(appears on the loading screen). As for updates for the game(Diablo 3: RoS) on the battle.net app itself… I ALWAYS let the updates do their thing before I even play the game.

I will still stand by what I suggested above.

May be time to freshen the installation files.

The CASC file system used within the files can degrade and fragment over time with each update and such. Its possible that is causing you that issue.

I just checked mine again and I’m not seeing any message like that at any point clear to when I’m standing in town.

Have not seen it, still not seeing it.

it’s almost every time i log in. it’s not a download from the app, it’s during initial loading so bypassing the app wouldn’t matter imo.

Has anyone tried a scan and repair?

question to all of you not receiving it, which country region are you currently playing in? could this be region specific due to laws?
