I’ve run into a bit of a brick wall with GR’s… I was able to get to GR132, but 133 is proving beyond me… I have 1 primal item, and the rest of my gear is “mostly” right with the stats. I also have augments on all my gear, 126 on a few, and 131 on the rest…
Wondering if I am just RNG capped for GR’s, or if I am missing something.
130 plus is a darn good achievement. I notice you did not add the Aughilds Power Shoulder and Bracers on. Looks like the others getting past 130+ are using those.
Done 135 with my DH without fishing, and that was at around your paragon. The only real difference between our setups is you are more focused on defense than I. (Never tried higher since I deemed 140 out of my reach when last I pushed, and it annoys me to have my max bloodshards be a number that does not conform with kadalas prices)
I think you would need more/higher paragon levels now to clear higher GR.
Having Primal helps though, but high paragon is mainly the key to clearing higher GR levels consistently.
Blizzard said that average Paragon 5000 should be able to clear GR130 in non-season, so with the power of the season, P5000 should be able to catapult you around GR140~GR150 in the season.
Your DH in Current gear - https://maxroll.gg/d3planner/883856926
Devouring Arrow
Damage: 7,192,455,781,833
Your DH turning every single piece of gear primal - https://maxroll.gg/d3planner/606153992
Devouring Arrow
Damage: 8,521,607,519,788
Okay, so that’s an increase of 8,521,607,519,788 / 7,192,455,781,833 = 1.184798
For each GR level increase, mobs gain 17% Hit Points. So, turning every single piece of your gear primal would get you enough damage increase to go up a single GR level.
The limitation’s not likely to be your gear. It’ll be due to the randomness of which maps you get, which mobs are on them, what affixes the elites have, which pylons you get (and in which order), and which boss you get.
In other words this is where rift fishing comes into play. All these random variables can make huge differences in clear times, the effective difference can be several GR levels.
I don’t se anybody using Aughild’s (haven’t checked every spot on (EU) leaderboard). I also don’t see anbody using Icy Trails either. It’s all Rocket Storm.
Is a Primal with a few stat points more in like vit and dex better than an ancient if the important stats on the item are at max? (Like 20% elemental and 6% crit on bracers). Also a non primal can have better secondary affixes than a primal.
Basically your gear is fine. Things you can improve are:
Belt: +Resistance instead of +%Life
Rings: +Damage instead of Dexterity
Amulet: +Crit chance instead of Dexterity
Like the others said, you just reached the point where you have to start farming paragon and start fishing for the right rift.
I’m warning you though, GoD is a very fishy build to push with, so a lot of patience is required.
The Aughild’s thing was a reply to Foxwalker. With Aughild’s you get a lot of damage reduction. With CoE you “only” get damage increase. I’m not the one advocating Aughild’s.
Just one extra note: Aughild needs two pieces so one using it would also lose the defence bracers.
Which is why I’d also be interested to know why anyone would use them in push run…
Ive wondered about the Rocket Storm meta… It is Fire, where the entire build revolves around Cold, and only deals 150% wep damage, where Icy Trails deals 300%.
Ive been testing Icy Trails, and yes, it requires mobs to be inside the trail, but that is proven to be very easy to manage, since GoD DH spends so much time moving around…
Rockets can proc more hungering arrows, and they are by a huge margin your actual damage, strafe is mostly just a way to get more hungering arrows in the air.
Strafe damage is completely irrelevant for GoD, the skill serves only as a vehicle to move around and to generate primaries.
As mentioned, Rocket Storm can generate extra primaries. The other viable rune is Drifting Shadow for the better movement speed. However for pushing Rocket Storm is recommended.
One thing I just noticed, you have a fairly low amount of area damage, only 66%. GoD DH generally needs a lot of AD, I’d say above 100% is recommended.
Primals are just perfectly rolled ancients so NO they are not required. 90% correctly rolled ancients suffices and later on, its mostly Paragon that starts to be the main requirement for higher GRs. If your doing 130’s then you should have a full load of 130+ Gems augmented into every single slot of gear. Going from 90% to perfectly rolled gear makes LITTLE difference as you get to the higher GRs since the stat gains start to come from other sources instead of gear.
