Wonder if that zone still lives
There’s no 100% certainty to one way or another but most signs point towards it being removed. Blizzard removed pretty much all direct references to its employees from the games since the scandal couple years back.
Some people claim it still spawns but provide zero evidence. Unless someone posts a very recent screenshot of Development Hell (S29, SSF mode preferably), I’m inclined to believe it’s gone.

To be fair, neither does the people that says it’s been removed, the statement “I did 3 million runs and it didn’t spawn” doesn’t really qualify.
That’s why I said there’s no 100% certainty to one way or another. Unless Blizzard explicitly states whether it still is ingame or not, we simply don’t know for certain.
It has always had a very low spawn rate so even when it did spawn for certain, it required luck to encounter.
Yeah. I think I’ve seen it twice.
I will say if you manage it, and kill the boss, you get an achievement for it. I know I have it on this account, might have it on my alt, but can’t recall.
And it has been a while since I came across it.
If I recall correctly, it might only spawn in Campaign mode. I know I haven’t checked for it there in a long time.
That’d be false. The very, very few times ages ago I personally visited Development Hell were in Adventure mode.
When I got the achievement, there was no adventure mode. lol
But for all we know, it (campaign) may be the only way to get it now.

It’s 40 minutes of farming for Developer Hell crammed into 4 minutes. Kinda funny actually!

Blizz said they will be much more strict/cautious with real life references but not decided to remove all of them. Kanai’s Cube is still a real person reference that is in the game - just simplest example
That cube can always be renamed, just like any other reference to a real life person.
I thought it was funny. A whole level, filled with baddies named after people who contributed making this game. I have no issues with that.
Cancel culture fans should be happy even! They get to kill the monster… lol.
Seen it at least three times due to three such achievements (one each region) but long time ago.
I was led to believe it only spawned in campaign mode or had higher chance there. Occasionally, i still check…
I’ve found it a couple times in Adventure Mode.

How recent is that though, Tinne.
I think back in Season 25, I was farming for it for hours in Season and never came up. I hadn’t farmed for it in a while but when I did, I’d usually get it to show up in an hour or 2 tops.
After farming for somewhere around 3 hours or so and it not showing up, I googled if it was still in the game and found several references that it was no longer there.
Eventually, I gave all my transmogs away including Wirt’s Original Leg but like a few weeks later the season that gave the gifts with the transmogs and Cosmic Wings came out, making the whole thing pointless.
Which kind of reminds me, do you think that season theme will be in the rotation?
Yes, there was talk about Blizzard removing anything in game that referenced their staff (current or prior) after the McCree lawsuit thing.
The gifts were a holiday event rather than seasonal theme. I think it was available in NS too.
It was released two xmas’ ago and didn’t make a return last xmas so it’s very uncertain if we’ll ever see it again.
I’d love it to return though (and replicated for other events during the year… red envelopes, easter eggs, pumpkins?) as I still don’t have the cosmic wings but I’d say that with D4 doing events now, we’re not gonna see jack for D3. A shame as anyone wanting to farm up the Quinquennial Sword can’t get them since Development Hell isn’t accessible either.
