Does Anyone Play the Campaign?

Hello,

I’m a returning player who hasn’t played in years, so it’s all brand new to me. I’m playing a DH and wondering if there is a build guide for leveling.

Searching the internet has plenty of 0-70 turbo fast builds, but I don’t see any for just the campaign.

Are there any sites dedicated to class builds? Including leveling in the campaign?

Thanks everyone for your help!

Pretty much no one plays the campaign at this point as it is a very unrewarding experience. People want to get to level 70 as quickly as possible so that they start grinding the endgame.

They are the same, except not the GR/push. Basically the speed runs, but, in Campaign mode, it is much harder to get the items to drop as 1) there is no Cube (it is unlocked/available in Adventure Mode), 2) there are no bounties/rifts (also in Adventure Mode), and 3) the drop rate, even on the highest difficulty, is about half of what one would expect in Adventure Mode…

So, therefore, most people who want to play Diablo 3 play in Adventure Mode. Campaign is OK if you’re an achievement hunter, want 100% completion, or just like the story but if you’re looking for help, it helps you to help yourself and look for help on what people actually play.

I advise you to choose the first thing you want to do, the two being “incompatible” at the same time.

If you choose the campaign, do it quietly.

If you choose leveling, here is a guide:

There are few who still play the Campaign. Likely even fewer now that the latest Patch removed the Campaign requirement for unlocking Adventure Mode.

No one plays the campaign every season perhaps. The campaign is awesome though and worth playing through at least once or several times. I came back from a long break, started up the campaign (have done it a number of times) and took my sweet sweet time through it talking to all the npcs, reading all the lore, exploring all the vistas etc. Took me about 30 hours to finish it and get to 70 - had a total blast. The endgame grind was still there waiting for me.

As for campign leveling builds… just play and pick your skills, runes and gear as you get them. It’s not hard at all and you’ll learn your character far better than you ever would copying a randm specific build guide. It’s also a lot of fun just doing your own thing and making a totally whacky build with what you get. Enjoy it while it lasts because there is none of that in the endgame.

No one plays the campaign more than one time anymore. Once one has experienced the story, gathered all available extra lore, etc., there’s nothing else left. Doing the campaign more than once is just very unrewarding. Not worth the time wasted.

The campagn isn’t awesome, it’s mediocre at best.

You’re speaking for yourself. not for everyone.

Start a game in Adventure mode in Hardcore with campaign completed in softcore only. Good luck.

Adventure mode is automatically unlocked for everyone since patch 2.7.4.

If you love the campaign play it. I replayed it when the Necromancer DLC was first released.
The interesting part is each character class has a slightly different set of additions in the story for their class. Sure, more people jump straight to adventure mode to complete the seasons, but to reiterate, if you love it, do it. It is the only remaining part that is semi-RPG.

Of course people play the campaign. It is amazing how you can make a broad statement like that!

This is my first play though of D3, playing with my wife and we are absolutely enjoying the campaign. Will I play it again? Probably not, but certainly it is a blast the first time through for many people.

That’s the point of the thread), i.e. the OP was wondering whether anyone still plays the Campaign Mode rather than Adventure Mode and, for seasons, the answer’s almost exclusively no. Also, seasonal heroes have always had immediate access to Adventure Mode, whereas non-seasonal it used to be that at least one of your heroes had to complete the Campaign in order to unlock access to Adventure Mode. That was changed a few patches ago, and now seasonal and non-seasonal heroes have immediate access to Adventure Mode without needing to do the Campaign.

Most folks play through the Campaign once, to see the story, then never do anything else than Adventure Mode ever again. Your own comments confirm this. That’s because it’s much, much easier to level 1-70 in Adventure Mode, and that’s where Greater Rifts and Bounties are.

I believe you meant: “…have immediate access to Adventure Mode…”

Meteorblade is technically correct. Which we all know is the best kind of correct.
