Do NOT reforge Diablo 2

Given the massive letdown and general lack of heart from Blizzard. I cant trust them to touch a single game that is perfect. We are already down WC3 and ive got a close eye on Shadowlands. Given what ive seen in 8.3 wow update, i have no faith the money grubbers running the show will allow blizzards polish to shine.

Im now even more nervous of Diablo 4. A game ive been wanting since Diablo 2. If Blizzard continues this path, its game over…

I have been saying this for years. Blizzard is not capable of remastering D2 and do things right. That’s why I was never a fan of D2 remastered edition.

D2 is not the perfect game. If it were it wouldn’t need anyone to make any mods at all. Nor would there ever be any room for improvement.

They are not reforging or remaster, remake (or any fancy word) D2 . They already said the focus is on D4.

If they do the same with D2 we are going to lose our ability to play online with the old game. That’s something very troubling.

They could decide they no longer want to support the servers and close them down as well.

No game is ever perfect and that is not the reason for most mods. Most of the time mods are made to add something devs never thought of or something devs would never do. Yes there are mods that fix things or enhance things. But let’s not claim mods are around because of imperfect games.

Seeing how WC3 reforged ended, hell DONT ALLOW ActiBlizz reforge D2.

Just NO!

Let the community reforge D2 instead!

Yes, don’t waste the resources to remaster the old and viable game. Use the resources to make something new like D2 remake, D4, SC3, WC4 or anything new.

Thats the thing no game is truly perfect. As for mods for Diablo 2 alot of them expanded on adding new items, new skills, allowing ladder only events to be in single player. List goes on… Same with Warcraft 3 it has mods as well.

If Blizzard is involved, of course I dont want that. It would just be a low effort cash-in like WC Reforged.

However, I’d definitely be interested to see it handed over to a reliable 3rd party. Maybe Grinding Gear, Obsidian, the Torchlight guys perhaps. There’s a lot of talent out there that would treat it with respect.

Oh, WOW! That’s so rude!

You have no understanding of what perfection would really mean in video games. It would mean that the game is so great that it doesn’t need any changes at all or even fixes. Also it would please everyone that ever played it. There would be zero haters in such a game. Plus most mods are nothing like the game they are made for (I am thinking D2 primarily). Why make changes to the whole game. Finally it wouldn’t have any room for improvement because you cannot nor do you need to improve on perfection.

The biggest problem with a remaster of D2 would be the feeling. Even if the devs did everything else perfectly the sprites wouldn’t be the same. So the feel would be lost, that is what David Brevik said himself.

Also reforge is different than a remaster. We just have to wait and see what happens in the future.

Why aren’t Blizzard saying something? Whats with all the silence?

First off, we want to say we’re sorry to those of you who didn’t have the experience you wanted,

Ohhhh god

Damage control with disappointing fan service at its purest.

And show me one game where everyone that has played is a monolith that feels nothing could be improved upon. Even then, somone will want a larger breast mod, a nude mod, a Thomas the tank engine mod, somone will want better shaders, better skyboxes, clouds, lightsabers, or put their favorite fictional character in it. Mods are not just about fixing a non perfect game.

No. But thats a huge part of it. The most popular mods are always community made unofficial patches.

I understand that, that doesn’t take away from the fact many mods are additions to a game that have nothing to do with fixing anything that was broken.

Shaders aren’t fixing anything it’s somone saying this will make it look better. Sexy mods don’t fix anything, weapon mods don’t fix anything, fictional character mods don’t fix anything, and that cartoon Skyrim mod didn’t fix anything.

Most are there for the individual to make something they wanted to see in game that was never going to happen.
