Didnt buy the necromancer class, what about the Ethereals?

Hello, I never bought the “Rise of the Necromancer Pack” that includes the Necromancer class. I really enjoy the game and collecting rare items and achievements. My friends told me about the new Ethereal rarity items that drop in Season 24, and by collecting all 21, 3 for each class you gain an achievement that grants you all the appearances. Does this include the Necromancer items that I assume I can’t get? Is it possible to get the Necromancer items on another class or is it just uncompleteable for me? Thank you in advance.

It is possible to get them with another class, just gonna take a lot of luck and hope RNG is on your side. Why not just buy the Necro pack? You also get some extra stash tabs, some wings, a pet…

You don’t have to EVER play the Necro if you buy the expansion. The Necro pack includes 2 extra stash tabs and two extra character slots to use in the game. The Necro is a pretty fun class to play even with the nerfs to it’s most powerful set in the latest patch.

I’m not a fan of the class, either. But as Khord mentioned, you get the extra hero slots as well. Check on youtube and see the videos about how to get all the ethereals relatively easy. Create a necro just to get the ethereals and then delete that hero and never touch necro again if you don’t want to. Same with Crusader - another class I’m not a big fan of. Other players, however, love them. It’s up to each player.

Finishing the necro class quests will also give you a unique set of wings - Trag’ouls wings. The only class that has a set of wings dedicated to them. They look similar to the wings you get with the exp. pack but are red.

But, as I said, your choice.

Yeah I’ve yet to see one ethereal not for the class I was playing. Completing the necro ethereals seems like it’s either impossible or require playing the entire season. I’m not sure why I care as I never bother xmogging anymore.

I’ll may bite if they have another 50% off sale before the season ends or if D2R offers more than they’ve promised I can upgrade to the pack that includes it and other stuff for like an extra $12.50 since I already own D3.

I’ve had some good experience using alternate characters with the same main stat as the one I am trying to get items for; for example, when I played barbarian (Strength main stat) and ran several rifts to complete the Journey, I got crusader (also Strength) items to drop, much more reliably than for other classes. Unfortunately, necromancer is Intelligence and there are more classes with it… but it might be worth considering. I have no idea if its accurate, but it is a witness (/sprays paint.)

I would recommend the puzzle ring method:

  • Level an alt to 31 (monk is good)
  • Do your rifts and greater rifts
  • When your blood shards are full, spend them on rings on that lvl31 character
  • Stash the puzzle rings you get this way
  • Start a new character (wd or wiz)
  • With a hellfire ring and hellfire amulet with avg damage and illusory boots cubed, open a vault and enter greed’s lair at level 7
  • She will drop two ethereals
  • Put back your amulet and ring and delete the character
  • Rinse and repeat until you get your 3 weapons

You didn’t read the OP. They didn’t buy the Necromancer and getting any eths for another class is quite rare.

Betting on getting them from another class while technically possible is probably unfeasible if my own droprates are anything to go by, I average about 15-20 ethereals for the class I play for every one offclass one, and seeing as that pool is 18 and you need 3 specific it is a hell of a grind if you are not extremely beloved by the RNG gods.

1400 paragon and I’ve gotten 3 offclass ethereals.

Hi there Do not buy cause it is cashgrab for that content .They removed stuff from expacks in the making .They promissed on Blizzcon about 3 expansions .They didnt deliver that and PvP. They said same about D4 no preorders and cut content for industry to fix this madness. For sure i dont own too and care about achivments should be last concern

Oh, heaven forbid that Blizz should want to make money on a product that they developed…

Not forbid just this is overpriced content package. 5-7$

They never made such promises.

Not really. A season pass for CoD that gives you (the possibility to unlock) cosmetics is 10 bucks, 15 for something that actually gives you gameplay? Seems quite cheap.

The necro expansion has been on sale regularly. Even at 15 dollars/euro it’s not expensive compared to what most people spend money on these days. And even if you can’t afford it missing the achievement isn’t a big deal since it’s purely cosmetic.

It was in panels before relase as i remeber i cant find for you for now but i will search.Iam pretty sure that Wilson or Cheng give leak about future expansions. The same as They confirmed about D4 last time 3huge Expacks plans…

Evidence, please.

@OP
believe it or not I’ve actually gotten a quite a few ethereals for other classes than the one I was currently playing.

your best bet is to get into a level 12 game so level something to 12 then get a friend to join your game and hold that level. Then go on anything and farm. You’re chances go up quite a bit and you should get eths for other classes but be warned it could take very long since rng is the epitome of random.

good luck

Oh shure, I’m shure you haven’t read the user license, which you have to accept to play the game, where it basically says that Blizzard has the rigth to change the game any way they want.

Good luck. I have spent over 3 hours on some characters and leveled them to full 70 in lvl12 game until I got my last item under a heap of dupes.
I have the achievement both on EU and US and found maybe 3 eths for different classes altogether. Getting all 3 for a different class (you need to find way more until you have all 3) is near impossible.

Bad luck for you, friend.
