Are the Cannibals the same ones mentioned in D3?
Will there be a tie in (lore wise) if so?
Is the encounter with The Butcher going to be a surprise? (Rhetorical question. I suggest you don’t say anything anout The Butcher until after release)

I better see soundtracks the likes of 'Nox Arcana" and “Beethoven’s Silence-- YouTube”.
menu on the left - awful, let us customise what to put where and its size, like we can with addons in wow
skill selection - its a console port, looks awful, does anyone at blizzard know what a PC is anymore and what its strengths are???
Grinding Gear really are showing you up on creativity, design, content etc.
what happened to my beloved diablo …
Here’s a pro-tip: Don’t ever mention game controllers for a PC game.
I know this is early but are there plans on doing a full beta test rather than an act 1 like in D3? You may of heard of the disastrous launch of Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem. The game is riddled with game breaking bugs, broken skills and game mechanics. One reason being they only let players beta test the first act which in terms alot of bugs were missed and undocumented which lead to a horrible game launch. Dont make the same mistake twice and just save plot like in D3 to release a bugged product.
Putting the Action Bar back in the middle and allowing the left mouse button to be rebind is great!
In regards to the inventory, I think that it is really cool that you can see your character in the middle of the inventory. It was similar like this in D3 while it was still in development, but it had one thing that was a bit better imo: the size of your characters 3D image was smaller and also left space for additional equipment items (and the charm menu) below it, as you can see here:
https://imgur.com/scfGDQF
It just looked a bit better imo and if the image of your char would be smaller in the D4 version as well, it probably even left more space for an additional row of item slots in the inventory.
=======================
Now, I wanna give feedback on some things that are related to the UI:
I know that you do not want players to have unlimited access to potions (aka potion spamming), which is understandable, but a cooldown on something like health potions sometimes feels a bit too restricting, especially since you may wanna use several potions within a brief period of time, e.g. when you are in a dangerous situation.
So I was wondering if there could be a middle-ground between unlimited potion spamming and a cooldown, by allowing health potions to have ~3 charges instead of a cooldown?!
That would make potion and health management feel a lot better in some situations. And there maybe can even be passive skills or legendaries that increase the maximum amount of charges you can have.
=======================
The last thing regarding the UI is the amount of active skills that players can have on their action bar, which in D4 currently is 6, just like in D3.
In D3 it was initially intended to have 7 active skills (as you can see in the video I link down below for reference), but it was reduced to 6.
The reasoning the D3 dev team gave for that was that if players could have 7 skills, it basically gave them everything they wanted/needed for their build, while having only 6 available slots forced them to make a meaningful decision.
While that is right, having only 6 skill slots available remains one of the bigger points of critique that D3 faces to this day, and also I would say that it made your character felt dumbed down.
So yes, having 7 available skill slots would lead to players having to make less significant choices so to speak, because they have more access to almost everything they want/need for their build, but that is not necessarily a bad thing, since it also makes playing your character feel better/more chunky/beefy.
So my question (or even request) is:
Can you let characters have 7 slots for active skills in the action bar?
Thank youfor listening to us and for all the work you put in this!
i want diablo 4 for only PC in first place not console so game looks smilar to diablo 3 in new graphic engine i want diversity itemizations tetris inventory
I like the new borders to differentiate rarity. Deuteranopia (red-green) color blindness is common among males. This made is pretty hard to tell the rarity of the items (i.e. green set, legendaries, yellows). My only concern is that the pictures look small, so are the borders really noticable?
Also, formal request to please, please add color-blind mode. Color blindness effects 1 in 12 men, 1 in 200 in women. All it takes is a quick color/brightness swap and it’ll make the world to some players.
Am I understanding that the Cannibals don’t have some sort of bite attack? I guess they would just eat us after they beat the crap out of us haha.
I hope there is a wider amount of details that can be toggled (resistance, dodge, attack speed, crit etc)
Please let us customize the UI the way we want (like we can in WoW)… Make a Poll or something, which will give you a good input whether it’s something the community seeks or not
To me the Blog reads as if you guys are developing a console game and doing the pc-variant on the side. Do not compromise just because of the console please!
I’d like to hear more about the skills / runes and passive-tree. Atm it looks like even a broken game as Wolcen is a way better game than Diablo 4 will ever be
Great Update, Although I have one thing regarding the Icons of items, I would prefer if the Icon of an item looks like the Item in-game, It is for weapons but not for armor, I don’t know if its much work but it would be welcomed addition. I remember In Titan Quest the icon of the item resembles exactly how it looks in your character. Other than that good job keep it going
Pretty sure it’s a design choice to make old school players feel more at home with less slots and a way to reduce power creep with too many items.
Which is exactly what they said they are doing.
A poll on a forum a majority of players or potential players may never visit is a terrible way to poll the playerbase.
I never said on the forums
Wolcen’s misfortunes had nothing to with that but rather a small fraction if the initial playerbase was involved with “testin”. If they had a free beta more of this bugs would have been found since none were specifically related to content past Act 1. More were stats not working, animation bugs, skills not scaling well, specs not working well. Some of that was the Wolcen team dropping a tone of new stuff at launch.
Gotcha. Send out email polls to players.
Inventory
To avoid interrupting gameplay with pockets of inventory management, we’re not planning on bringing back different-sized items. However, we’ve been tackling the other points from a variety of directions.
I don’t like this too much. And this is one reason why:
With item icons, we’d initially pursued a painterly style to stay in line with the overall art direction of the game, and we’re finding that it doesn’t come across as well when we’re talking about small elements in the UI

We can see it on the picture. All the designs looks very good, but we can easily see the difference of detail between the boots and chest armor. If won’t go with different sizes, maybe add an inspect option to see them in more detail.
At the very least keep them of the size of that picture, instead of the size we see on the following one:

MONSTER FAMILY & DESIGN HIGHLIGHT: CANNIBALS
Very cool designs. I hope i can make my character look like that It would be great if you guys implement something like we have on Titan Quest (and other games), and that is to drop (or have a chance to drop) the items the monsters are using. This could add a lot of cool customization for our characters, and we would get to use those very cool items.
Weaponry
Idea: one of the cannibals could have a net or something like that to trap the enemies.
Pro tip, D3 and ARPGs in general feel great on controller. Just because you don’t like it or care, doesn’t mean others don’t.
Whoo! Exciting update, thank you to everyone involved!
I really like the new UI changes; the inventory screen looks so much better! It feels more like it should for a Diablo title. I love the more realistic item icons as well. And thank you, thank you, thank you for giving PC players the option to center the action bar and health/resource globes. Personally I felt the corner hub made it feel less “Diablo” than the traditional central action bar. This change (and more importantly option) is very much appreciated!
Looking forward to the next quarterly update! Keep up the amazing work D4 team!
