I have a Samsung Odyssey G9 monitor. I highly recommend it. Games that support the super-ultrawide aspect ratio are much, much more immersive than those that don’t.
Needless to say, I was very disappointed when it was revealed during the recent developer livestream that ultra-wide monitors will be supported but super-ultra-wide will not be. Diablo 3 even supports super-ultra-wide.
If the reason for not including it is due to PVP, then maybe just add a “fog of war” effect so you can’t see players that are far away from you while you are in PVP zones?
Seriously, I hope they reconsider. The black bars will look bad. Super-ultra-wide is so much more immersive than even ultra-wide.
I was looking forward to using my rooftop as the background for my projector while playing. Something about 3,300 sq. feet just sounded great. Damn it!
99% of games run fine in 32:9; pretty much all the ones that don’t you can get working in 32:9 if you know what you’re doing. Careful, your jealousy is showing.
So what you are saying is that it doesn’t work reliably, and that sometimes you have to fix it yourself. To me that doesn’t sound like something worth recommending, at least not yet.
Shouldn’t they focus their resources on things that benefit the majority of customers ? Apart from the hardware and the mode itself, it seems like a huge headache to make this fair in PVP. Let’s face it, that “discussion” would be a permanent flame-war on the forums.
I mean, you buy a niche product, that could effectively let you exploit “click on screen to cast” abilities, they still support it to a point that means you can play without 1 cast of hydra from 100meters away owning a noob in PvP. And you think it’s blizz that have made a bad decision?
Standards exist for a reason, 4k, 1440p and 1080p are the standards.
You chose to buy a product that gives you a competitive edge when supported, it’s cheating in effect in most players opinion, but we get it. Pay to win is a thing.
Anyway, I hope blizzard do not support it, because ultrawide monitors are an eyesore and they are not more immersive. Just place your 4k screen at an appropriate distance.
What you call massive extra viewing angles for camping snipes, is not what “immersion” is.
