Diablo IV is really just the Diablo II remaster

Just look at the images and gameplay we’ve seen, and especially the character selection screen. It all screams D2. Leading up to Blizzcon 2018 it was heavily rumored that D2 Remaster was in the works, and after that con it was almost obvious that D4 was not yet in any form of serious production. The Immortal debacle then forced Blizzard to need something to show for D4 at Blizzcon 2019…thus they simply took their D2R project and retitled it to D4 and here we are.

I am stoked to be getting D4 but nothing they showed looked like it had any new or groundbreaking features to brag about, it is literally D2 Remastered but now with a new story. Is anyone else worried about this? Even more hilarious is that in 2018 Diablo Immortal headlined the show and in 2019 there hasn’t been even a whisper about it. Blizz has zero creative vision currently and in a panic to deliver something…anything…because they literally have nothing right now.

It’s mostly D3 reskinned…

It would be good (but not perfect) if it was. Sadly, it’s more like D3 for now.

Sorry if I sound cynical, but…

Hopefully!

Ok, being serious now, if D4 is drinking more from D2 and less from D3 we have much to win. A lot more than to lose, just because it is not “ground breaking”. They went creative in D3… it sold fine, but at what cost?

Hopefully they will squeeze D2 and drink every last drop of it. Innovation or ground breaking features can surely be added, but D2 back-end design has A LOT to offer that D3 didn’t even touched.
