you dont even get to own anything you pay for either.
from what theyve shown this has got to be the most expensive FREE TO PLAY game ever made
Lol stupid article & vid are stupid. First he says
“There are virtually no sources for earning Legendary Crests for free.”
followed by
“F2P gamers do get a few Legendary Crests here and there”
Not to mention that you have an alternative way to get legendary gems just by farming in-game currencies.
But what can you expect from these hasty people? The video that the article used was published on 14 May while Wyatt Cheng said that they tweaked the legendary gem systems before the Diablo Immortal’s launch.
It is F2P. Got through the story fine. Now, depending on how powerful you want your character, it gets expensive quickly. I see most people stopping playing this after the story and curiosity rather quickly.
Just spend the 500k buddy.
2 per month is virtually nothing. Just do the calculation on how long it takes to get your first of 18 required 5-star gem pity drops as a f2p player.
Why is 5star required for pve?
In Hell 1 and see no need for 5 star gems. They would be nice. But not required.
You realy don’t understand how f2p works, right?
I don’t need it. Already in Hell 1 and constantly getting “high difficulty” warnings in Challenge Rifts yet the enemies are practically melting at the sight of me.
And in case anyone wonders: no you don’t need to play through the story multiple times to unlock higher difficulties. Once you reach lvl60, the option to change difficulty unlocks and you can change it through your Map.
Although gear appears to be paragon-locked. If you increase the difficulty beyond the recommended paragon bracket, the higher-difficulty drops won’t be usable UNTIL you reach that paragon bracket.
I would argue that diablo games in general are a long grind to get the best loot. Just because it’s possible to spend that much money to max out a character doesn’t mean you need to have a maxed out hero. You aren’t meant to have a perfect hero, there should always be a goal to get better and the road has always been long and boarderline unatainable without cash.
Take d2 for example. Are you ever going to find the runes to make an enigma. Probably not but its in the game still. You can find them but it would probably take at least a solid year of grinding.
And in d3 would take forever to get primal ancient gear in every slot with perfect gear. It’s unreasonable to think you have to have that, you don’t!
So just because you can pay 100k to be the best in this game doesn’t mean much. They just paid to win like 90% of people who play d2 already do! The price is so steep though that it will be the exception rather than the rule. Most players will not spend 100k too be maxed out on a phone game.
There is no free lunch.
If you’re not paying for a product, then you are the product.
I’m doing well enough for what it is, without having spent anything. So far, the game is OK. Some things I like much more than others, with play being a concern as I do not like the mobile layout - it would be great to move the character portrait with health and whatnot somewhere else as I never look at the top left. Also, not sure why my character randomly turns around and attacks in the wrong direction.
The two comments are compatible and logical.
The first sentence says"virtually no sources." In the English language that means a source does exist but is very rare.
The second sentence gives the rare source and how many legendary crests are available i.e. a few.
If he said in the first sentence no source was available, you would have apoint. That is not what was said and your criticism is invalid.

so enlighten us as to how this constitutes FTP when it clearly has a very hefty pricetag in order to actually play the character at max level?
That’s how F2P works. It’s never truely free. Since you don’t pay upfront, they need ways to get back money, because developement costed money. And majority of people will try not to pay money, they rely on the few who is willing. But since very few will spend, the prices need to be high. In do time prices get lower, so more would consinder buying stuff.
Now when you win the lottery you’re going to have to choose between buying a new house or gearing a couple Diablo Immortal characters.
