Diablo Immortal - Adjust Dungeon Party Requirements

What is the goal for how it is currently designed by Blizzard as to ‘needing’ to have a certain amount of players before starting? For players to have enough CR, just from a social aspect of playing with other players, or something else?

If it is from a CR perspective, than that doesn’t make sense on why the need to group with other players. Why would a player who can comfortably farm H3 open world (for example), yet be required to play with another player if they wanted to do a H1 dungeon?

If it is from a social aspect, I sort of get that, but it doesn’t work from a ‘required’ perspective of playing with others if no one else wants to do it at the time. What you should instead do is put a time limit in place. If no one else joins after [x] seconds, then allow the party lead to enter the dungeon with whomever is also in the party. I would propose 60 seconds maybe to start, but you can ultimately decide what time limit is more appropriate.

Examples:

  1. Party of 3 trying to get in dungeon that requires 4 - All 3 can go in after timeout.
  2. Only 1 in party trying to get in dungeon that requires 2 - The single player can go in after timeout.

From my perspective, this is the most ridiculous design in Diablo Immortal.
If your game progress is behind, you just CAN’T farm gears in dungeons. Never ever.
If your game progress is ahead, you just CAN’T farm gears in dungeons. You have to wait others.
Is this not ridiculous ?

The core design is totally different from WOW. Single player dungeon is absolutely necessary.

Yea, I was trying to compromise of leaving it in, but have a timeout if not enough joins. It would be preferable to just have a ‘single player’ mode option available (faster then timeout), but if that is too much to ask and goes against the social reasons as to why the grouping requirement is there to begin with, then go for the timeout.

Cross server play should allow easier group up.

Only Rite of Passage and other competitions should be server based.

Definitely, then if you want to grind in the middle of the night there are always people on the other side of the world who can play.

I can envision a lot of issues around cross server play with just network delays to start. Just think of someone trying to join a dungeon on a host that is on the other side of the world. The lag on that for that player would probably be horrid…
