This may be due to the known authentication issue. But error says a patch is required, my current version is 2.7.7.92326, latest patch notes are for version 2.7.6, friend has same status.

Same here, previous patch loop threads don’t seem to be inspiring. Issue persisting for close to 45 minutes; I still can’t re-launch game.
When the authentication error is happening the message is usually something like “Your request has timed out. Please try again. (Code 3006)” Code number may vary. I finally received the “Diablo III is now playable” message, and now I’m getting the request time out message. That is probably the authentication issue. So I guess this is progress.

Mine only took a few seconds to update. In fact, once I ran the Battle․net App, if I had blinked, I probably would have missed it.
The only reason I noticed it was because the D3 patch started just after I exited Immortal last night.
