Diablo III Characters in Diablo IV?

Does anyone have any concerns on what the characters of Diablo IV might look like in Diablo IV, considering it was announced that Diablo IV takes place many years after Diablo III?

In previous games, the heroes of those games became evil. For example, the Diablo 1 hero became the wanderer. The rogue and sorcerer became evil in Dialbo II.

At the end of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, we see our class become evil – which means in Diablo IV that might come to happen.

Lorath, Tyrael – what would happen to them many years post Diablo III? Lorath was young. He should be now around age 40 or older – depending how long it’s been.

With Tyrael now being a mortal – did he grow older? Is he the new Deckard Cain?

Will we see older versions of every single NPC in Diablo III?

What are your thoughts, and what you hope or speculate might happen in Diablo IV?

I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them have turned evil, yeah. Others, like the barbarian, may have died of old age. Others are probably past their prime, still training apprentices in the world and fighting the good fight, but no longer able to summon their previous power.

I bet if they’re addressed at all, it’s going to be something like that. Various fates for various characters. Mostly subtle nods and cameos. I doubt they’ll play a significant story role.

Said it in another thread, but i’ll post it here too.

I really hope our D3 heroes don’t “fall to corruption” I find that trope rather… disappointing.

I agree that just saying “they died” would be cheap as well.

However, they said this game is set “decades” after the events of Diablo 3, perhaps they could mean so long that the D3 nephalem died of old age? though that could be just as cheap, however it would be the easiest way to get the “more grounded” story they say they want for D4, our D3 characters are absolute units, powerhouses of near ridiculous levels, what could’ve possibly challenged us after we killed the prime evil and death itself?

My only thoughts along that line would be a faction of “evil” nephalem that start making moves, and our good nephalem from D3 are on our side helping to fight back against them.

Honestly I would actually really like it if they came back as a part of the playable character roster, perhaps even some of the D2 heroes could come back as part of that roster too!

On the subject of Lorath, we may have actually seen Lorath in the Gameplay trailer, if you look closely you can see what looks a lot like Lorath’s spear against the wall, if not Lorath, definitely another horardrim

As for Tyrael, does he even follow the rules of a standard mortal and age? could be he’s in the high heavens, could be a lot going on behind those locked gates, maybe the possibility of a civil war in heaven, Tyrael vs Imperius with imperius wanting to wipe out humanity and such.

Lot of possibilities there.

In D1 all the characters end bad, in fact we kill them all in D2.
D2 characters have different faith:
The Assassin quit the Viz-Jaq’taar to train demon-hunters
The Sorceress is killed, …

In D4 we should at least kill some remaining D3 characters or ear about their horrible death, or anything of this order.
Don’t forget, it’s Dark Fantasy and the moto during D4 panels was ‘‘return to the darkness’’.
Nothing pretty please, or maybe just a minimum of prettyness will be fine with me.

Not a clue,
the lore changed a lot after D1 and D2;
D1 heroes ended bad,
D2 heroes took different paths, some of them unknown, but none of them were corrupted as far we know.

D3 heroes?
who knows … the initial map of Diablo IV already has its zones defined.
The Barbarian, I suppose he/she would return to his/her lands to fight the Unclean.
The Demon Hunter will return to the western kingdoms, where hunting Khazra is a sport.
The Mage was from Xiansai, that area will not appear in the game although he could live in Caldeum.
The WD was from Toraja, that area will not appear in the game either.
The Monk is from Ivgorod, that area is also on the other continent.
The Crusader could have stayed in Westmarch or returned to Hawezar, he/she could appear in the game.
The Necromancer can appear anywhere, they are nomads normally, unless he/she becomes the new Deathspeaker.

The difference between a good path and an evil one, is how it is used. In our terms, that means trying to get specific scenes for there class.

This is how its done by Gods. So…

Corruption is a separate infernal issue. This is because we are dealing with magic here. If they save the necromancer’s soul shard, then I would say the hero actions succeeded wildly, by saving one of the greatest spell casters. The correct scene includes the necromancers choosing sides in ‘The End’.

If the necromancer, is the judge of who used death’s magic powers, anyway. After existiance bound to a cloak, to support there life, there future was D3. To survive and save our future, they alone have forbidden magic.

From my point of view, this really drew interest to swell the ranks of the army of necromancers. You recall they went around draining the magic, from any master spell caster they could trap. With the various magic personalities dead or missing, it is down to mortals Tyr.

A soul shard created by a cloak, could continue to trap a hero until released by other hero units. Inside a time stasis spell, they would have suspended there own life until released.
See: Captain America vs. The Red Skull.

Honestly i’m concerned we might not get ending to Shens and Lyndons character arcs.

Dirgest is still out there with Shen chasing after him, hoping to seal him away in that ruby prison again. Meanwhile Lyndon went of to confront his sister in law about his brothers murder.

I was wondering about that, too.

Lindon is in Blackwater, Hawezer.
