Diablo II: Resurrected - Windows 7 Support

It’s not a short term business opportunity however. Blizzard have a lot of plans for the future and making quick money grabs won’t be of help to them. Maybe I have to explain them this as I do to you?

How exactly is removing support for a dead OS being “money grabbing”?.

It’s a money grab since what’s coming next month is way less than a game in early access. And it comes for a ridiculous price without the core problems of D2 to have been solved.

Further, cutting TCP/IP claiming to make more “secure game” and leaving all the other crap like botting, RMT and jsp present clearly reveals their goal with D2R is to self profit without getting involved long term with it. That’s not what a 20 year old devoted community deserves. Yes, it’s a community full of botters, but nevertheless it’s the community that kept the Diablo spirit going all these years. It deserves more respect and care. D2R should have been much more than what it is atm - a reskin with ugly looking grass and clunky hero movements.

So your argument has nothing to do with the topic of the thread?

Topic of the thread is just something else that is cut from the game, because it costs money for them to implement it. It’s just one of the thousands of things that won’t make the game, but you are free to play the outdated D2R money grab on windows 10. The botters and rmts will do it to, and you’ll have one sweet party.

I see absolutely zero reason to play a game I played until boredom 20 years ago, regardless of how good looking the face lift is.

If it was up to me the thing would never have been made at all.

I’m in your boat. Stop wasting resources on giving old games a facelift.

This thread became pretty toxic and off-topic real quick… Why call the OP a cry baby when he/she did not want to participate in this garbage pit?? Not necessary bro…

This is beyond shady. There is absolutely no good reason to entirely block Windows 7 users from launching this especially when there was a viable workaround. I’d play it even if it was buggy, I have no intention of upgrading to Windows 10, PC is strictly for games and movies. Nothing more. Shouldn’t have to get all technical to disable botnet on a terrible OS just to enjoy what is essentially a reskin. Windows 10 should be a RECOMMENDED spec, not a required one. S’pose I’ll just stick with far more graphic-intensive and CPU-heavy games with more leniency on required specs when it comes to OS.

Going forward nothing will officially support Windows 7. If Microsoft doesn’t support it, no one will. That doesn’t mean it will not work, just that if it doesn’t, Blizzard is not going to waste their time trying to get software running on a dead OS.

PS4 is still supported by Sony, Win 7 support ended January of last year.

What part of Win7 is no longer supported by MS not does it have the required directX12 D4 needs to run?

You choose to use an unsupported OS, you are blocking yourself out.

I don’t think that people realize that there are still some people left that would rather not have all their activity on the computer be sold to research companies and that’s why they refuse to update to win 10, not because they dislike change… I am sure that a lot of people would gladly upgrade if there weren’t so many blatant privacy breaches.

Whatever reasons you have for not upgrading are quite irrelevant, the end result is the same regardless. The OS is unsupported, so developers will by and large no longer go out of their way to make sure their products work on it. Or outright make sure it doesn’t work to avoid the future headache when it does stop working and people get their panties in a twist.

(Not to mention many of those same persons happily provide their life story on any number of social media)

I am using Win 8.1, which IS still supported by Microsoft but not by the game. Anyway, that’s fine by me, as I was feeling a bit sick of the fact that I wanted to give Blizzard money for something again, cause they deserve none simply for to the way they chose to run their company.

There are plenty of legitimate issues you might have, pissing on their lawn for something that in the end is Microsofts fault is not.

And 8.1 is probably the least used OS Windows ever released. Less than 1% of the player base use it as per Steamstats, as opposed to 89.5% and 5.5 for Win 10 and Win 7.

Windows 10 Fan Boys:
“Blah blah blah it’s not supported don’t you guys have pc’s?”

Windows 7 Supported Games:
World of Warcraft, Diablo 2, Diablo 3, Diablo 4, CoD, Hearthstone, Starcraft, etc.

To actually answer OP’s original question. Blizzard is lazy and phoned this one in just like they did reforged, wow classic, wow tbc… That’s why there’s no support for Windows 7. This is just an easy money grab. Give it a few months and the D2 community will have this mod working on windows 7 computers.
