No, this simply means it’s confirmed that Shards are part of the rotation - so the next time it comes around these issues will be fixed.

It says at the end:

  • Extra progress orb drops from the Soulshard Stain of Sin now works for Challenge Rifts.
  • Extra progress orb drops from the Soulshard Stain of Sin and Altar of Rites node Reaper now only drops from monsters inside Nephalem Rifts, Greater Nephalem Rifts, and Challenge Rifts.

So if they do a CR from an old build that had Shards, the CR will have them. They have had CR builds in the past that were completely broken because they were reliant on a theme that wasn’t active for the CR

And nowhere in that statement it says Shards are a permanent part of the game going forward or will be back next Season.

They are proactively fixing a potential problem in the future which I commend them for.
