Diablo 4 Skill Combo System

Taken from the Reddit leak thread, I wanted to focus on this point in particular:

Combat system will have combos. You will be able to use a combination of skills in succession to do more damage or create larger area of effect attacks. As a Barbarian you can chain pull into an enemy and then jump over them and then you have a choice of either throwing them into another demon or grabbing them and then pummeling them into the ground with your bare hands or simply stunning the target and then use an execution move to chop their head off. You can ONLY do execution moves when the enemy is near death.

This sounds VERY interesting, I wonder why it was never mentioned at the announcement unless of course the leak is not authentic. Great idea regardless. I would love for this to be part of the game.

Although in the reddit post the point after refers to the Shapeshifting transition from bear to wolf, vice versa as the combo system, which doesn’t make sense since that doesn’t actually create any stacking effect. It may actually be referring to the effect of the cold slow into frozen effect, and in that case it would make a lot of sense, and we could see multiple other effects that have another layer to it by continuing to stack certain effects.

For example, stunning with lightning at first would make the target electrified, zapping nearby enemies, but if continuously casting lightning, they could explode, and potentially even cause burn effects and melt nearby enemies.

There was no mention or any sign of the explicit example given though, with the execution and choice of combos system for the Barb. But it would make sense, and I’ve seen some basic implementations on another ARPG mobile game before.

I would love to see that kind of thing. Also if you use a lightning skill over an enemy that is over water, it could become an area attack (even if it wasn’t) and electrocute other enemies that are also over the whater.
