Along with the playable heroes there should be 5 Demon classes that you can choose with demon abilities and you should be able to kill angels and good humans. And if you come across a player hero you could fight them.
i mean we’re nephalim and they are the love child of angels and demons right? we should be able to choose a side.
Unlikely considering that from a lore point of view, a demon wouldn’t be a match for a Nephalem, and it’s quite likely that we’ll be facing some Nephalems in Diablo 4.
On the other hand, if you were to ask for some kind of alignment system where a player’s actions can lead to them fully embracing either their angelic or demonic heritage, and thus gaining either some unique abilities and/or cosmetic changes that’s unique to them, then that’d would be understandable (although unlikely sadly). Alternatively, there could be a class that makes use of their demonic heritage powers to summon and/or enslave demons, curse foes, and perhaps temporarily transform into a demon as well.
But beyond all of that, a demon class isn’t going to happen, unless said class is simply a Nephalem who’s embracing their demonic prowess.
i just kinda sympathize with the demons at this point. I mean we all saw how evil the angels are and what they did to tyreal. I just wanna smash Auriel and send Imperius and crew to hell, and i think fighting in some heaven zones and desecrated them would be cool spewing my demon stuff all over and making it corrupted and sticky and burning.
imagine being able to play an Azmodan type demon or a shapeshifting Belial little fake boy.
What if we had a new game called “The Eternal Conflict” is which you could pick a Demonic or Angelic faction to play. I know it will never happen, but Blizzard has so much they can do with the lore.
There’s an alignment system in Diablo Immortal to set player groups up for clan raids. That’s as far as you can get I believe. The unrevealed class being an angel or demon is always a possibility but I wouldn’t bet on that.
Someone is thinking about World of Diablo, which is non-existent or something Bliz has not dare to share with us as it’ll be a competition for their once-beloved MMO franchise.
There is no guarantee that diablo IV heroes will be Nephalims. Actually, by the tone of the game, chances are that they won’t.
If I am not mistaken, the only playable Nephalims in franchise are the ones in Diablo 3.
Now, on topic, I have the feeling we will be able to choose factions. Maybe not directly angels or demons (for the better, let this game be more about humans in the aftermath of events in diablo 3 than only the confront between light and darkness alone) , but cults, armies, guilds and such of sanctuary. And if this will be the case, I find it better than directly side with celestial or demonic beings.
After all this time and events, pretty sure that mankind have understood that nether of the sides fights for them, just for their own interests. So, since there isn’t unity between humans, people would also be aligned with what would be better for them too.
That would actually make a great arpg or mmorpg spin-off game. As we already know, the Eternal Conflict has been openly fought for nearly time immemorial, and both Heaven and Hell had won many key battles that helped turn the tide to their favor. So yeah having a game set during the Eternal conflict, where players could choose to play as a Angel or Demon, and work their way up through the ranks, until they become a direct and key subordinate (something akin to a lieutenant) to either a member of the Angiris Council or one of the Great Evils.
Since the Worldstone has been destroyed back in LoD (20 years before Diablo 3), it’s likely that the Diablo 4 heroes will be Nephalem, especially since Diablo 4 takes place decade(s) after Diablo 3 RoS. That said, if they were Nephalem, that in itself wouldn’t be a bad thing; as long as they are not the only Nephalem walking around (similar to Diablo 3 vanilla campaign) as well as them being Nephalem isn’t a major key point to the story that needs to be constantly brought up in the campaign.
Wouldn’t need to be demon per se just a demonish nephalim. Adria wasn’t a demon neither was Magda. The cultists weren’t demons. Skeletons weren’t demons. Leoric wasn’t a demon neither was archbishop Lazarus.
Based on Diablo 3 and various stories (sin war trilogy, storm of light, etc.), it seems the power of Nephalems differ from one another. For example, the side activity where we faced Vidian suggests that Vidian trapped and defeated plenty of Nephalems in order to take their strength as his own, yet against our Diablo 3 heroes, he fell just as the rest of his kin did against the heroes.
Another thing to keep in mind is that some mortals may only tap into their Nephalem powers, but may never actually awoken into them. For example, some of the heroes who aided Tyrael in the Storm of Light Novel had actually tapped into their Nephalem heritage, but they didn’t become full fledged Nephalems as our character had.
So back to the topic as to whether we’ll see more Nephalems in Diablo 4, I think we will because:
The World Stone and it’s influence has been removed for decades, which means that as more time passes, more humans will be able to tap into their Nephalem powers and eventually awaken as full fledge Nephalems (just as Uldyssian and the Diablo 3 character had done).
Lilith is back and if her intent on weaponizing Nephalems still remains, then she’d likely would continue to cultivate Humanity’s potential (albeit at Humanity’s expense of course).
That said, I don’t expect to see our Diablo 4 heroes, or many other enemy Nephalems (assuming we do fight them), to be as powerful as the Diablo 3 Nephalem.
