Diablo 4 remove magic items

Do we really need to have magic items? Can we just stick with normal, rare, sets and legendaries. What do you guys think, is it worth having?

Why not remove items entirely? /s

On a serious note:
DIII’s poor itemization is responsible for magic tiers feeling redundant.

In my opinion, yes it is, especially during early game.

Yes, we need them. Let’s remove ancient items instead.

Why not give them a purpose? In median XL, you can only make shrine crafted items from a rare item. However, if you find a magic item out in the world, you can bring it to charsi and imbue it to a rare item, thus giving two different systems a coherent purpose and goal. There are so many things you can do with magic items.

What do you need magical items for?

If you played D2, think about 30frw/3os tiaras etc.

No way, magic items should be far more relevant than what D3 made them, same with normal items.

All levels of gear should be viable and useful in ways beyond just ‘lol salvage’.

Someone gets it.

woot.

I think normal and rares should also be removed.
Have nothing but legendary items. screw it.

In Diablo 2, magic items were used to create crafted items, a tier of items capable of contending with rare and unique items in terms of power and capabilities (depending on the item crafted of course). Also with how Diablo 2 itemization operated, some magic items, like the necromancer’s wand, came with powerful skill charges (for example the amplify and lower resist curse) that a player could purchase from the npcs. Depending on your class and build, these items were incredibly beneficial from early to late game.

Remove them and (as you have seen) people get angry. Keeping them doesn’t hurt anybody.

So NO, don’t remove them. A clever way is to keep them and make them as useless as in D3, so that those people don’t have the excuse to blame a decision which they dislike but good to more people.

Make more items potentially useful and they take more space in your stash. Rare and below should be useful only in early period of the game or before you maximize your level.

Give magic items higher stats, for example say a rare or unique item can provide up to 100 lightning resist but a magic item can provide up to 300 lightning resist.

If their current plans are final then all items in the game should be removed as there’s no depth to this game…A piece of paper has more depth
