Diablo 4 Necromancer

In Diablo lore the Necromancer’s worship rathma. So with rathma confirmed to be in the game it would be weird if the Necromancer was not a class in the game.

Anyone think they will be included in Diablo 4?

Probably in an expansion, if not the base game.

I am not 100% convinced that it is Rathma (Rathma has tall black hair and he did not like his Mother). Blizzard please confirm this.

Also who is the old Horadrim talking to the grave, is it Lorath Nahr now as an old man? Blizzard please confirm this.

More lore on Rathma

" Rathma , or Linarian, is one of the few surviving Nephalem in Sanctuary and is a master over death and spirits. He created the Priests of Rathma , who are also known as Necromancers. Rathma is the son of Lilith and Inarius. He was born with the name Linarian but was given the name Rathma by Trag’Oul."

If the summoner is Rathma, than Necromancers are a must!

Just so long as they aren’t able to spam bone wall to contribute lagging the server thereby creating a time lapse rendering the duplication of items possible. Oh hey cooldowns. Perfect.

I wish we get necromancers, but I think we won’t at this stage.
Id.this is Rathma according to the media file leak, then Necromancers would not go against him - so it won’t make sense we play a necro.

On later expansions? Sure, why not.

I would, however, expect to fight them, and expect them to be unforgiving.

Who knows.

I hope the Necro makes it though since it’s my favorite D2 class.

Same - but I prefer the game to be interesting and diverse, balanced (Mechanically), and making sense story-wise.

They said they won’t put characters that don’t belong just for the point of putting them there (In regard to the Prime evils or angels), but the same stands for humans/Nephalem as well.

I will be really disappointed if the Necromancer class is not included in D4 Vanilla

I wold rather have them introduce some new classes, instead of recycling the same ones over.

Think outside of the box, for every two old classes, give us one new one. New things can be fun.

Even though I love all the classes from D2 (and most of D3) I would like for us to have new classes.

And depending of the depth of the druid pet skills he might take the summoner spot from vanilla D4.

I’m betting on:

  • A holy character (paladin or variation also occupies the “shield” position, that feels missing on the demo);
  • Bow wielding character (since D1 we had a character of this type don’t see it going away, maybe kinda combined with the agile fighter)

I am with you, with one small change. Instead of a DH type (high heels and spandex) or the Amazon, how about an outdoors Ranger “hunter” type like they showed in the concept art.

Bow + dual wielding could be interesting, I just hope it doesn’t fall into the d&d ranger that normally depends a lot on having a companion.

Could also be the “poison” character with stuff like traps and bombs (D2 throwables expanded).

I do, eventually. I doubt for D4 release, but I hope.

I’m a bit dismayed to see him waking up his mother, though. Doesn’t bode well for the necro order.

i bet the Necro will be in the expansion… gosh it would look SO good in this new style!

If it is Rathma in the trailer a Youtuber made a good point that since Rathma wants balance in the world there may be an even bigger Evil cough Diablo cough than Lilith. So he brought Lilith back since Sanctuary is her home and she would do anything to protect it and since Heaven is closed and ain’t going to help we gotta pick the lesser of two evils… of course this is just speculation!

I’m pretty sure they know better than to not include the Necromancer again.

I hope he won’t be some ugly and old hobo, like Xul. I want my bishie necromancer

I also hope they would give him more interesting personality. Necro in D2 barely talks but his lines display either some subtle sense of humor or hints at his interests.
Seriously, Necro in D3 was more bland than the NPC necros you could meet in the game. Even the Necro you meet in the swamps and his magic skull partner were more interesting then that wooden, emotionless husk, devoid of empathy, that repeats “balance” and “cycle” every two sentences, you play as.
