Diablo 4 coming "early 2021" as per 100% accurate Leak

Yeah, based on PVP my gut still says we get a full Beta early March of 2021, and then a release within 6-9 months thereafter.

That gives us time to flesh out all the PVE issues, but also assist in the proper scaling of PVP. They need to get this right, if they can, D4 is going to seize control of the market.

Too stressful. If thatā€™s your thing though I wish you a safe and exciting ride.

After reading that it seems to me that it obviously is a legitimate leak and not a hoax. Almost half of what is said in that post wasnā€™t known before the Blizzcon demo, and was confirmed by the Blizzcon demo - including the MMO direction, the Druid and Barbarian being focuses of the demo, and the Druidā€™s ā€œcomboā€ ability of being able to transform between normal, bear, and wolf mid-attack, and that switching being a highlight of the demo.

Hereā€™s some of what the Reddit post got right:

  • Art Style is VERY dark, gory/bloody and gritty - think Diablo II days mixed with Dark Souls and Bloodborne but much more modernized obviously. The new engine is able to create atmospheric visuals and dark tones that immerse the players. Picture the world of Sanctuary as if it was in the Dark Souls or Bloodborne universe. Super dark and gothic.

  • Diablo II Remake/Remaster was planned, but they later realized that it would be much better to give the franchise a complete reset and put majority of the fans requests into 1 giant package.

  • The world of Sanctuary is MUCH MUCH MUCH larger than before due to the game going the MMO route. The space is necessary to accommodate the players.

  • A server will hold around 100 or so people at a time as of now.

  • The class that was showcased in great detail to the employees was a Barbarian- signature moves such as whirlwind return and many other favorite skills. Druid was also part of the demo, but for extremely short time and only used as an example for their new combo combat system.

  • The demo showed how a druid player can use the combo system. In the clip the player was able to morph into different animal forms (including wolf and bear) during mid-combat flawlessly without any weird transitions or awkward attack animations using different sets of moves and skills from each of the forms in a matter of seconds. It looked very impressive.

  • Paladin, Barbarian, Sorcerer, Amazon and Druid are planned for launch with more coming later.

  • Right now the goal is to get the game ready playable demo for Blizzconā€™s 2019 and of course all the marketing material as well. After that, it will be preparing for the beta in 2020 and then the release.

Yes, it is. And the extra details we get from the leak are spicy. I copied them in OP.

That scares me. That means theyā€™re further along in development than they indicated and a lot of the things I would like to see them change arenā€™t likely to happen

Youā€™re not wearing one of those fancy hats they have on your profile pic soā€¦ Debunked, buddy.

I guess that leak is not 100% accurate after all. Because there is no way that it comes early 2021.

Like with the WoW leak, and so many other leaks, often these leaks are accurate info mixed with guesses and fakes. It might not even be ill intend, maybe the leaker simply misunderstood or got wrong information sometimes.

As for the actual details; maybe I didnt pay enough attention to the demo, but there was nothing of this, was there?

Combat system will have combos. You will be able to use a combination of skills in succession to do more damage or create larger area of effect attacks. As a Barbarian you can chain pull into an enemy and then jump over them and then you have a choice of either throwing them into another demon or grabbing them and then pummeling them into the ground with your bare hands or simply stunning the target and then use an execution move to chop their head off. You can ONLY do execution moves when the enemy is near death.

Iā€™m gonna say the Amazon is not correct because they said there will be no gender based classes in Diablo 4 and Amazon are supposedly all women.

That could easily be changed for ā€œlore reasonsā€. Once upon a time Warcraft lore said that Night elf fighters were women only, and the men were druids. or something like that. Then came along an MMO that need it to be different (not saying that it is a bad thing).

Not even the developers know the release date. Blizzard might have a internal wish window but that still isnā€™t guaranteed.

That was Jay Wilsonā€™s baby, and he was as stuck up know it all,
with zero experience in Arpgs.

ā€œWeā€™ll get it right this time. We promise!ā€

The last smooth launch I saw from Blizzard was 24 years ago.

I agree. May or June of 2022 would be the absolute earliest that I could see Diablo IV launching. Anything before would be Alpha and Beta. Iā€™m in my late 30ā€™s so Iā€™ll be 40 years old before itā€™s out. Not sure an aging Diablo fan like me can really wait too long. Iā€™ll be Deckard Cain old and heā€™s already dead in the series! Stay awhile and listen!

In the mean time Iā€™m trying not to think about that! Iā€™m enjoying Heroes of the Storm and Diablo 2 for that sweet nostalgia. I want to enjoy Diablo 3 some more but the nerf to Lamentation belt let me down. Iā€™m not letting that one go! I may just make a multi shot Demon Hunter in Season 19 and be done with the seasonal objectives in a few weeks. Iā€™ll solo casually every day and in two or three week itā€™s all done at 600-700 paragon. Some people can knock it out the first day.

The Barbarian and Demon Hunter both have great sets as part of Haedrigā€™s gift so you canā€™t really go wrong with either choice. If I choose a Barb itā€™s only going to be because my passion overcame the disappointment of Papa Nerf!

Legit! Everything in this post on reddit happened! We sure they did not simply edit the post?

Release is being debated between late 2020 or early 2021 depending on how things go, but as of now it seems early 2021 is more likely.

They shouldnā€™t be pressured to rush D4 unless they want games like Anthem and Fallout 76, both of which were rushed and turned out to be severely under-developed, buggy, broken messes.

Haha, werenā€™t each of those games in development for 8+ years? Seems to me like each project just lacked direction.

From what I can remember about Anthem, that started development in 2012 but slowly got nowhere for years. Then at E3 2017, they used a fake demo video to show what the game is all about, so fake that even the dev team didnā€™t know what kind of game Anthem is supposed to be. After that, it was 18 months of practically directionless and rushed development to meet a financial deadline.

Donā€™t know enough about Fallout 76ā€™s development other than it turned much worse in so many ways.

Take heed of the sage words from the master game designer Shigeru Miyamoto:

A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.

I am looking at a release announcment at Blizzcon 2021 with a 2022 release. They did say it wasnt even Blizzard close and Diablo Immortal (i might be more excited about that) is going on year 3.

Okay, Iā€™m gonna ask how the flip you think the reddit already got this right when the beta hasnā€™t been announced yet.
