What they got right is that Blizzard were working on making a playable demo for Blizzcon. And then that the demo highlights the Barbarian and Druid, and that the demo shows off the combo system specifically regarding the Druid’s ability to morph between normal, wolf, and bear.
So why did you bullet 9 points up there if Reddit really only got 3 of them right?
Huh? The Reddit post got stuff right about every one of the points I presented in my above post.
Combat system will have combos. You will be able to use a combination of skills in succession to do more damage or create larger area of effect attacks. As a Barbarian you can chain pull into an enemy and then jump over them and then you have a choice of either throwing them into another demon or grabbing them and then pummeling them into the ground with your bare hands or simply stunning the target and then use an execution move to chop their head off. You can ONLY do execution moves when the enemy is near death.
This sounds VERY interesting, I wonder why it was never mentioned at the announcement. Great idea regardless of whether the leak is real or not.
They did however talk about the shapeshifting transition, I hope that’s not all that is referring to, because that’s not the combo system just described, that’s just the fact that the shapeshift is tied to a particular skill and you can use them back and forth, not the fact that if you perform a set of skills in order and conjunction it will have additional effects.
The demo showed how a druid player can use the combo system. In the clip the player was able to morph into different animal forms (including wolf and bear) during mid-combat flawlessly without any weird transitions or awkward attack animations using different sets of moves and skills from each of the forms in a matter of seconds. It looked very impressive.
This makes the leak questionable,
No word on PvP yet or anything of that sort. However, Blizzard did say that since they’re going the MMO route, the PvP factor is kind of important to a lot of players. Although, right now they’re strongly focusing on creating a fantastic PvE Diablo experience. They do not want to promise anything in regards to PvP ever since with what happened to PvP in Diablo III only to later disappoint the fans. PvP is something that will be looked at in the future once the game is in a stable place and the playerbase is happy.
At the announcement they were clear that PvP would be a big part of the game. Detracts from the narrative that it is unclear. They were pretty clear there will be.
We just established they didn’t get the beta part right - at least not yet - so at the very least what you’re presenting is inaccurate.
What are you talking about? The beta part is said to be for 2020. Are you from 2020 to say that it isn’t accurate? I didn’t post that point for what it says about a beta, but for what it says about the Blizzcon demo - which turned out to be accurate.
Also, what would be beyond inaccurate? Either it’s accurate or it isn’t. And in this case what I’ve posted is accurate. I don’t know what you’re trying to accomplish by arguing against things that are inarguable.
They’re releasing on PS4/XBox1… Next gen consoles come out holidays 2020… You think they’ll release a game on 2 year outdated consoles?
i don’t really care when it comes out, as long as it does & it’s well polished & goooood.
Blizzard learned a lot from their Diablo III and Reaper of Souls mistakes/lessons and used the feedback to create and design new and improved systems for Diablo IV
Why am I still sceptic when I hear paragon levels and GR-like content, I wonder…
Blizzard are happy with the many systems and improvements they’ve made over the course of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls such as the Kunai Cube, Wardrobe loadouts, Seasonal Journeys, Rifts/G-Rifts and so on.
Well that kinda explains… They are humble and proud about a loot slot machine they invented to cover the fact that game lacks human interaction and trading for isolated fellows. That’s nice.
Also what’s with that typo on Kanai’s Cube? If that guy has any relation with the game itself, this wouldn’t go unnoticed. Strongly possible that the author is a friendly media who agreed to “leak” information or a Blizzard intern who never played anything Diablo related.
Blizzard is well aware of games such as Path of Exile, Grim Dawn and Wolcen and their current skill systems. As a matter of fact, they have a whole special team dedicated to playing those games extensively for research and game development purposes.
Yet your head staff still draw a somewhat clueless portrait about their systems. Seems abit off and odd to say the least. Is it on purpose or…? What?
What a “dedicated research team” can do when the head director says simply “No. We’re not doing that and we’re doing it my way.”?
Do they ever play Diablo 2 to favor the legacy, now they appear to cancel it? Which I doubt again…
Blizzard are creating something new unique of their own for Diablo IV as far as character progression goes and yes stat allocations are back as well.
No such thing on demo and many of the other leaks implied this is the system they wanted. Author is playing it for the players to dance and gauge reactions; not believing it.
No word on PvP yet or anything of that sort.
They said “PvP Zones” at the presentation. In case any of you missed. We heard PvP zones and I hope they do have plans on it. I think this is written by someone who are not really fond of PvP, ignoring the presentation just 2 weeks ago and want a power fantasy PvE.
PvP is something that will be looked at in the future once the game is in a stable place and the playerbase is happy.
Again, AH made them tons of money but they still failed to give a proper model to PvP after years. Seeing it at the release is believing it.
At D3 they promised on PvP to reveal “later”; now, due to poor implementation and killing the human interaction widely on a kneejerk measure, it’s not even remotely practical.
Now we heard the words on PvP at D4 and they plan on leaving us hanging by another “promise”? I thought that leak just said they “learnt something” from RoS.
Release is being debated between late 2020 or early 2021 depending on how things go
So they refused to give a release date 2 years earlier by stating “not even Blizzard soon”? Yet they are well aware that a sequel release takes 3 to 4 years due to how long and expensive the commercial campaign could be. Seems peculiar and speculation.
2021 would be pretty soon. I would have expected later than that, especially when they said it wasn’t even Blizzard soon. To me, 2021/2022 was Blizzard soon so I was thinking a release date in 2023.
I don’t have the first clue how this could possibly come out in early 2021, but I’d certainly be happy if it did. But I just don’t see it.
I’m currently doubtful.
Being alive is somewhat important too.
Wich one will be first?
Lost Ark
Diablo IV
Make your bets.
Here is how I think this Reddit post came to be and why some things differ from what we saw at Blizzcon.
Bob who works in accounting
Bob works at Blizzard and was shown the D4 demo about 9 months ago. He talked with some of the developers and learned all the things he mentions in his Reddit post.
Why did Bob wait 5 months to post this info? Well, who knows, but maybe he didn’t want to jump the gun too much as nothing official had been announced, and it was always possible that D4 could get canned before it was made public, making all his predictions look like garbage.
So move on to about 4 months ago…what changes? Well Bob learns that they are going to announce D4 at Blizzcon (4 months before Blizzcon starts as there is a lot of planning in advance that goes into Blizzcon).
But Bob hasn’t actually played the demo in 5 months, or spoken with anybody on the D4 team since then. And in that time there have been several changes to the Demo and obviously to what the D4 team is willing to announce publicly versus keeping quiet about.
Bob doesn’t know about any of these changes or what the D4 team will announce and thus the difference between what was seen at Blizzcon and what is in the Reddit post
Yes, we are sure. The post was the same at 14th of July 2019:
well i currently play lost ark so…
LEAK is definitely correct, but as for release-date, it all depends on what else they are going to implement (maybe in relation to Community Feedback). So far planned dates were 20/21. But if they’ll try to add something new or rework almost complete systems of any kind, release might be postponed to 22 or even 23. But I strongly doubt they are willing to release it in a such distant future; graphics and animations will be outdated by then.
D4 as Mortal Kombat ARPG confirmed.
Yes
Maybe itll come to ps5 later?
