D4 imo has a good chance to surprise us as far as that goes.
They could update the game the way they handle WoW updates. Where they add a little bit of new content every new patch to the game.
When they got rid of the RMAH they gave me the impression that they are not gonna go down that rabbit hole again. There are laws now that they would have to comply with that they might not want to deal with in order to make it compliant to the new laws.
Why expansions after all one and done is all that is ever needed. Then you can be with the rest that love to move on to the next game. Where you never return to the games you have just finished.
WoW is a buy to play MMO with subscriptions so why do they do that with WoW. They should be getting more than enough money to do without subscriptions but yet in order to play the full game you must pay for a subscription.
I am not worried about that because there are other non pay to win mtxs that are not cosmetics, think about name change.
Why have expansions you want D4 to be one and done game where it is instant maintenance mode after launch.
Take a game like PoE how long do you think it would’ve taken them to make the entire game as it is today with all of its updates and have it ready for launch in 2013 which is the year that it launched.
I see nothing wrong with wanting to keep a game alive for a long time period. It shows commitment to a game. What you love games going into instant maintenance mode. Well that worked decades ago but not today. Today gamers have changed where we need new content to keep us coming back to a game.
