Hey everyone, I was thinking about buying diablo 3 on my series x but can’t find any information as to WHAT FPS DIABLO 3 runs at ?
I know people are complaining about the 4k not working, which doesn’t bother me. I just want to make sure it’s not 30 fps.
d3 has some pretty bad performance areas/effects…not even a 3090 can save us from those.
The game is built around 60 fps, anything faster and its just waste. In fact it can cause some people issues running at high fps. I just turn vertical sync on in game, set background fps around 20 and game fps around 65, it runs a lot smoother and less stuttering.
Im usually at like 150+. More power helps in multi-player.
It’s more CPU focused than GPU focused. When I had an Intel 5960x, I was getting 200+ fps (sometimes as high as 400+) with the exception of when you had 4 player blue goblin kills. When I switched over to an AMD ThreadRipper, which should have even had better single threaded performance according to reviews, my fps dropped to under 150 under the best circumstances, and will even get below 50 fps on occasion just in normal play. And it’s not a broken CPU, as it’s only Diablo which has this problem, as other games match up with what the reviews state.
As far as the XBox Series X and PS5, both just seem to run @ 60 fps. No resolution increase or any other increase. The only thing I noticed is both have much better loading time, albeit the PS5 loading time is similar to a PS4 with an SSD, rather than seeming to use the full power of the PS5’s faster SSD.
in 4 man group play? expect 40 fps. I’m using 5600x with 6700 xt 1440p 165hz monitor.
Yeah, CPU affects the game a lot. Most of the time you can help it by actually changing the affinity of the program to use no more than 2 discreet cores. (For example, an i5 and using core 0,2 or 1,3, etc.)
To change the affinity, go to your task manager while the game is running, go to the “Details” tab. In here look for D3 (DiabloIII 64.exe or DiabloIII.exe), right click it, and you will see an option for affinity. Highly recommend that you do NOT change priority. You actually can cause more problems if its set other than “normal”.
Just change the affinity to 1 or 2 cores and no more than that. This also can fix other game issues.
You will have to do this each time you run the game though and that can be a pain.
Game on.
It runs in 60 fps on Xbox Series X.
It’s highly unlikely they’d bother to revise the game to perform any better than that. It’s too old and there are 2 upcoming Diablo games.
Diablo 4 may be able to go higher. We’ll have to wait and see.
