Diablo 3 on multiple devices

So my friend bought the game, and put the activation key on a notebook. And now it doesn’t work on PC. What Is she doing wrong? I thought you can play on multiple devices, obviously logged in on one device at a time.

You can use the activation key, and only need to use it, once.

Once the activation key has been attached to a BattleNet account, logging on to that account gives you full access to it. In the case of your friend, all she needs to do now is to log on her PC BattleNet App using the same credentials (e-mail + password) that were used on the notebook. It is not necessary to use the activation key on the PC… nor will it allow her to.

This is also why it is very important to protect one’s login credentials… because they are the key to full access of one’s BattleNet account.

Exactly what I thought… She said she was playing on the ntb, and it crashed. So she tried on PC, and after few hours od playing she realized she was only playing the demo… so she tried to redeem the code again, which popped up the “you have already claimed this code” message.

Then… she may hate me for this but… if you look in the top left corner of the BattleNet App, it says clearly if you are playing the Starter Edition (demo)

If she sees that, then she needs to log out (the menu in top right corner under her name) and then log back in using exactly the same e-mail and password she was using on the notebook when she activated the key.

I just noticed your heroes are on Europe… so she will have to change the “Americas” to Europe in the small box just above the blue PLAY button so she can join your games.

Ok it turns up she only have the vanilla without the RoS. But I read on some forums that one can play vanilla without the RoS. She can’t though… I don’t really understand why she only have the trial play option…

Edit:

she sent me this… no option to play the demo though…

sorry but it says I can’t sent links, and I didn’t find out how to insert the image

Took me a while to figure out that you meant https://imgur.com/a/aRgpoGh without the space.

The picture shows that she is on a valid account… not the demo.

What happens when she clicks on Play ?

Also… I don’t think someone that only has Vanilla D3 (without RoS) can play with someone who has RoS… I could be wrong though… but she should be able to play solo. But let’s make sure the game starts first and then she can figure out whether she wants to buy RoS.

The Blizzard Shop is having a sale atm… D3 RoS can be bought for 10€. I don’t know when the sale ends… but I think there is still some time to debug this. No point in purchasing D3 RoS if the programme won’t launch.

This forum does not allow you to post links or pictures unless you are Trust Level 3; until then, you can post links in your message by:

  • putting the link in your message as you normally would,
  • highlighting the entire link, and
  • clicking the </> button on the formatting bar at the top of the reply window.

This will transform the link into preformatted text and it will be allowed by the forum software; the link will not be “click-able” but others will be able to copy-paste the link in their browsers.

Same for pictures… upload them to a picture sharing website (such as imgur.com), copy the “Direct Link” and paste it in your message, highlight it and click on </>.

Yeah I know we can’t play together, but I read somewhere that one can play the vanilla without having the RoS. Anyway when she clicks PLAY, it plays the demo version…

She also tried to reinstall the whole game and blizzard app. Nothing changes

Are you sure? The demo version is identical to the real version except it has a few limitations:

Players on Starter Edition game licenses have the following restrictions:

  • Cannot progress past the Skeleton King.
  • Can only create up to 4 characters.
  • Level 13 cap.
  • Matchmaking available only with other Starter Edition players.

If her hero is higher than level 13, or if she has played beyond killing the Skeleton King… these are all signs that she is playing the real thing.

Yes, at the level 13, the game ends… We are both really confused…

That’s really odd… at this point, I think she should contact Blizzard support and have them look at her account. There might something else going on here.

The link is : Contact Support - Blizzard Support
(this is a link to contact Blizzard Accounts section, “other issue” dept. )

Click on the Contact US button towards the bottom of the form.

Good luck with all this… hopefully, the Blizzard people can help her.

P.S. : I guess I should add at this time that the Europe region has its own forums… should either of you need more help : Diablo 3 Forums

Yeah the only way to go now probably…
Anyway thanks for your precious time and Merry Xmas!
