Diablo 2 Resurrected and the old graphics

Sorry wrong forum but i have to buy the game to ask a question on the forum.

I have an old laptop on which I play MedianXL and Project Diablo 2.

Is it possible to run this game immediately in the old graphics mode if my computer does not meet the minimum requirements in terms of RAM? Maybe this can be set somewhere in the .txt like in Diablo III?

I am pressed for time because the game is on sale for 13 euros and the next sale will probably be during the holidays.

I already know what the problem is. I downloaded the game from a torrent first and it requires DirectX 12 and on my Win 8.1 11 it’s max. I don’t want Win 10 because Windows won’t let me play anything old.

Thanks a lot Blizzard that I can’t run a game from 2000 because I don’t have Win10.

The game isn’t from 2000, Immortal. It’s from 2021, hence the “Resurrected” moniker.

If you want to play on W8.1, purchase the original version from 2000/2001.

So why didn’t version 2000 get 2.x patches? I’d like all of them and I don’t give a damn about D2R and its great graphics or the ability to run the game with old graphics that don’t require dx12. There’s probably some configuration file there that you can edit in notepad, e.g. “forceoldgraphics=1”. What’s the problem?

Why did the company intentionally make the game for dx12 to force people to buy their next system? 99% of the games I’m interested in are old so I should stop playing them because I have D2R?

Did you read the system requirements first? It clearly states that Win10 is required.

Bliz chose to leave the old game intact and available for those who didn’t want to buy D2R.

No game studio makes games that use current technology to ‘force people to buy their next systems’, Immortal.

Like everyone else who shares that sentiment, you’ll be facing the reality that software makers leave old technology behind in favor of new technology.

If one chooses not to keep up with new technology, they will have ever growing issues as they fall further behind.

That’s a bit disingenuous. Obviously, you don’t have to stop playing them if you have D2R. You just can’t play D2R.

Again, just purchase the original version if you want to play D2.

On a separte note, these are the forums for Diablo 3. D2R has its own forums here:
