I was playing Immortal then suddenly a window came up saying Maintenance and the game crashed without a timely warning.
Yesterday I spotted a countdown clock next to the minimap and checked what it was about. Turned out to be a notice about the maintenance.
So there definitely was a warning given well in advance.
yep, he’s right.
Dablo Immoral Twitch viewers went from 400 viewers to 112 now. this game is so dead.
But not in game giving us a countdown.
The warning was given ingame.
Yes, there was. A countdown timer in the upper right, next to the minimap. Even had a tiny wrench icon included.
Sounds like Prep work for Season 2 that comes out tomorrow.
Expect this to happen every season.
DI isn’t D3. This is a mobile game. And, mobile games need “new content” every season to encourage resale of Battle Passes. (If they don’t do that, they die)
For 3 or 4 days prior to the maintenance, there was a notice on Battlenet advising that the maintenance would be happening. 24 hours before the maintenance began, there was an in-game countdown…
…and if you logged in after the daily reset today, and before the maintenance began, the game gave an in-game splash screen telling you when the downtime was for each region.
Reminder to all: update your client.
Version should now be v1.5 (was 1.4 for S1)
There is an additional 81+mb of game data that goes along with it.
They have been warning us for days about the Maint. There was a wrench at the top right of the screen with a countdown that started days ago. If you clicked the wrench it told you when the Maint would start as well.
There literally was.
Are there any patch notes or a blog with the new Season info? I admit I just got up and have not gone looking yet. Still in the no coffee brain fog level of my day.
Minor bug fixes and improvements.
Reddit Post by PezRadar(?) suggests that a bigger download is slated for later this month.
It would be nice if Blizzard would discuss how much downtime (inactive season) to expect between seasons.
I was hoping that S2 starts tomorrow, but that’s probably not the case. Unlike D3, they really need something going on at all times.
What are players supposed to be doing if the BP is over? That makes no logical sense not to start the next one. So much stuff in game is tied to it and it generates a ton of XP for leveling paragon.
That really says so much about the design of Diablo Immortal ![]()
Surely it starts at 03:00 (server) tomorrow. That would certainly explain why server was patched this morning, i.e. to put that content into the client.
On PC, Battlenet didn’t have any update available when I checked but, on opening the game client, it downloaded a patch of around 450 MB.
Only thing I noticed immediately is that the in-game time is permanently displayed bottom left of screen under the chat.
Yeah, the Codex is sort of a book of things you can do during the play session. It has a ton of stuff and they all give you various amounts of points to the Battlepass system bar. Each time you fill that bar you get some sort of reward, even after the BP 40 “end” to fancy rewards. The BP system is free by the way. You don’t have to pay for it. Paid just gives you a few extra mats and more importantly, cosmetics when you hit various BP levels.
Did they! Finally! I actually have been grumpy that was not there. Esp when I have real life things to do and there are also in-game events at certain server times. It has a timer if you are in the zone, but not otherwise.
I know you dont have to pay for the Codex. Just really sad that the gameplay of a game has basically been reduced to filling up a daily meter, so you can fill up a monthly meter.
Instead of, I dont know, doing the gameplay itself because it is rewarding without that meter filling up. Mindblowing game design imo.
Well, prior to this morning’s patch, you could still see the server time on the PC client, but it wasn’t obvious. If you left-click the area bottom left, directly under chat, it would show server time and local time. This patch just makes is easy to see without having to click anything.
I actually like the gameplay, in game events, various systems. Those are enjoyable for a casual like me. The BP is just sort of like a second XP bar or Rep bar, if you think about it that way. My XP bar and Paragon is a meter you fill up with gameplay too.
Sure, but even as you enjoy those, you also say:
All those are bound to the filling of said bar. Which also caps how rewarding those those activities are, when the bar is full for the day.
Rather than being a secondary XP bar it is more like a primary XP bar, that indirectly also fills the actual XP bar.
This actually surprised me. Blizzard, and many online games, tend to have disasters on launch days. Immortal went live globally (minus parts of Asia/South East Asia) on Mobile/Tablet and PC without a hitch. It has stayed up and stable without technical problems. I have to give the server/technical engineers and coders a lot of credit here.
