DEVS - D4 Beta Shut Down Too Fast

I have a nice list to submit but the Beta shut down before I could post it.

I hope I get another invite, please.

In the open beta you’ll have your next opportunity.

Yes, note every idea you have now, make a list, and submit it in the open beta … Expected to land in the beginning of 2023 maybe ?

Open beta would make a nice early Christmas present though.

The early chrismas present will probably be for Blizzard, when they announce paid beta access on December 8 :stuck_out_tongue:
(or whatever the rumored date was)

Not coming till next year.

I thought the announcement was for a pre order?

Yep. That said I’ll take a December quarterly update blog as a christmas gift.

Next months quarterly update should be very interesting in the mean time what with the beta now closing and all.

Yep, and one rumor was that the preorder would come with beta access.
Instead of an open beta. But time will tell.

The last two were posted before the last day. Blizzard takes off for the holidays so maybe an earlier blog again.

Was it that? Not that I remember exactly, but wasn’t it pre-order was early access to the released game? I remember a couple cows being birthed over it because it was considered “pay to win” by some.

That is what I thought. Not access to the beta. They are already giving access to the beta.

“If you have not received an email invite to the Diablo IV Closed Beta by November 18 , then you have not been selected to participate. But don’t fret, public testing phases will begin early next year.”

Should have submitted as you went along. If you were in you would have known the end date weeks before it happened. Of course, Nov 18, was wildly speculated as being the end date when they said if you don’t get your invite by then…

Yeah, that has also been a rumor. There are rumors aplenty!

According to XboxEra and our sources, Blizzard is planning a sizeable marketing blitz for Diablo 4, starting at The Game Awards 2022 where the game’s April launch window should be revealed. Additionally, preorders should open too during the show, including various digital editions and a premium physical collector’s edition with various goodies for hardcore fans. If our information is correct, one of the preorder benefits will be access to Diablo 4’s open beta in February 2023.

Rod kept saying open beta in that IGN interview, so there may be more than a week(end) stress test. I see nothing wrong with beta access for pre orders, it’s almost industry standard at this point.

If there is no open beta and only a paid one, it is kinda bad.

Both in terms of fulfilling the purpose of beta testing; if the only testers you get are people who already paid for the game.
For similar reasons as it would be bad to have a beta with only people who botted 24/7 in D2/D3/D:I (if they had selected beta participants based on hours played in endgame, but it very much seems like they didn’t do that after all). Not getting a broad representative selection of testers.

And, while irrelevant for the original purpose of a beta test, not having an actual open beta would also go against Blizzards words that people could get into one in 2023.

Yeah, stress tests is more the type of open betas I would expect.

Did you not have an opportunity to give feedback when you were in the beta? I know you did.

If you did not give your feedback the first time why should you have a 2nd chance.

Maybe they should give others a change instead of the same people who were in the first one.

Oh I wasn’t talking about exactly on christmas day. I just meant that I would consider a quarterly update blog in december a christmas gift, regardless of when it’s released within that month.

I know I was just saying I do not believe we will have to wait until the end of the December, we could still get it in November or early December.

Not really. Blizzard rarely does an open beta. Most gsmes never have an open beta. Most betas are invite only with streas test weekends open to anyone. So a closed public beta that has opt-ins and paid participants isn’t a bad thing since it’s still more testing.

There words was, public beta early next year. They never said everyone would get to test. As I pointed out earlier this year, Blizzard uses public to mean non F&F, where they select from opt-ins and content creators. They use open when they mean open to anyone. They have used both recently though.
