For my WW Rend barb, I think I finally have found a decent Hellfire amulet. At least, one that is good enough that I can stop farming them.
It has:
18% Physical
100% CHD (rolled)
10% CHC
Rampage passive
The chance of this getting replaced by another Hellfire is probably pretty slim, right? I’ve probably crafted 400, with enough mats for maybe 50 more.
Is it ancient?
No? Salvage the salad of it Caesar!
It is not, unfortunately. The lack of a gold border is bothersome, but the stats wouldn’t be any higher on an Ancient, right?
I don’t believe those would have much higher maximum (Physical can go to 20% if I remember right), but I was more on about Augmenting, My Barbarian had to craft something like 30 or 40 to get a usable ancient version. At least it was a little different than rift running. I only did that as I wanted to finally augment every worn item. It is not likely “required.”
Also, congratulations on a good one. Almost all of mine give Nerves of Steel or the “fury does not degenerate” passive.
Getting CHC / CHD / Element / Socket / Useable passive with the affixes at, or close to, their maximum values is extremely rare. I’d be amazed if you got anything even remotely close to bettering this with just another 50 crafts. Shame it’s not ancient, so you can’t put Caldesann’s Despair on it, but it’s still decent.
I have to ask though… why not Squirt’s?
Well, I’ve only found 1 Squirt’s and it honestly rolled garbage. I suppose I could always spend my shards on the necklaces and then upgrade those. I just came back like a week ago - does Squirt’s provide that much of a boost over having a 5th passive (non season, if that matters)?
I forgot that you can’t augment non-ancient items.
I would take that amulet and stop farming. Yes an ancient allow for an augment but at the cost of months and months of farming. I finally got an almost perfect one and I estimate over years of farming I have crafted close to 6k amulets. I have seen 15 primal at a drop rate of 1/400-450. Only way Im guessing that math is a had all my primals saved until recently. Also add in the fact that hellfire is not best in slot so you would be farming the second best amulet.
I too prefer a Hellfire over Squirts for the extra passive. I suppose its a matter of preference for me.
A WW/Rend Barb is getting hit in the face all the time so for most of the time Squirt’s will be providing no benefit (extra damage) or detriment (take more damage first time you’re hit) due to the fact that you’ll have zero stacks. The reason for the amulet being chosen is for when you get a Shield pylon. At that point you can no longer be hit, so your stacks go up to 10, giving you double-damage, whilst meaning you can’t be hit. Assuming solo with a follower that’s emanating a Flavor of Time, that’s a full minute of double-damage. If you manage to combine a shield and a power pylon, oh my!
Squirts is tricky in a sense that it’s great for low speeds, and finding your max tier push. Want to get a high ranking without phishing for the 1/5000 greater rift? Go with Hellfire and get your top 3% clear within 100 keys is my train of thought.
To get a more in depth answer, Rage has a thread posted as the Squirts Analysis. It’s a great read and will provide ample info to make an educated decision on what you want to roll with.
Don’t worry about the hairs the experts will split over this and that…that is a truly awesome amulet!!
best HF ammy i could ever craft was:
non-ancient
18% physical
99%
9%
+153 physical resist
Brawler passive
…and I’m pretty happy with it, being a very casual player of course.
