So with the announcement of the fifth and final class we can safely summarize the classes and possible builds/routes each might be able to spec into… I’ll post them (or most of them at least) down below for each of the classes so would be easier for you to “select”, also will post my top 5 (I guess ?) at the end
Having that said, here we go:
Barb:
- 2H slasher (Sword & Spear, most likely whirlwind-based)
- 2H bludgeoner (Hammer and Mace, most likely HotA-based)
- Dual-wielder (most likley Frenzy-based fighter)
- Brawling/AoE (most likely Upheaval-based)
Sorc:
- Ice/Cold Sorc
- Fire Sorc
- Lightning Sorc
- Melee/Defense Sorc (I’d imagine/hope being possible)
Druid:
- Storm Druid
- Earth Druid
- Werewolf
- Werebear
- “Greymane” fighter (rapid shift and fast combat from up close)
** [I’d imainge all the 4 above being viable both with or without Companions]
Rogue:
- Poison slasher/figter
- Shadow Archer/Fighter
- Frost/Shadow archery
- Utility & shadow-realm
Necro:
- Bone fighter (with or without army)
- Blood fighter (with or without army)
- Shadow and Army
- Curse and Bone
Yes there are some other combinations that I didn’t post but from what we tend to know I think that the abovementioned ones seem most-probable (and reasonable)
Having that in mind I think I’ll post the 5 ones that intrigue me the most and would try out ASAP tbh:
1 - Storm and Earth Druid (Shamanic theme/vibe, no companions, well, maybe a Bear stun for some close combat control)
2 - Storm Druid with Companions (think this would be fun, perhaps not as viable in terms of control, but would imagine takes higher amount of skill and has more promising comboes
)
3 - Curse and Bone Necro (Curse and Shadow could be more intriguing but would imagine would be hard to pull off)
4 - Shadow-Realm Rogue
5 - Melee Sorc (stuff like Flameshield, StormArmor, Mana-shield (if exists ?), Arc-Lash, and some Enchantments to benefit close combat as much as possible)
Soo yeah, those are my top 5, think that a “full-shaman” Druid is something I’d like to try out most (guess it’s obvious haven’t played WoW :D), but would imagine there are enough new stuff to try out for all kinds of folks, what would be yours ?
well i have my characters
i want to play a polearm warrior so she will probably have to be a barb since there are no monks or anything
and an archer that might occasionally use daggers so the rogue is perfect for that
my knight character might have to wait for a future class DLC
Full hybrid Druid
Bone Army Necro
Fire lightning Sorc
Poison shadow Rogue(melee hibrid?)
Hack Barb
That would be the bone/curse Necro
My gig was always Monk, Assassin or Paladin, so I don’t really have certain interest towards a build. If Rogue be similar to the Diablo 2 Assassin, then I may consider that; shadow abilities look good.
no
it’s an angel so the necro doesn’t work
I will run with the Druid earth magic and pets
. I might never even touch the Rogue.

without DH im going straight to necro’s pet build
From the list you mentioned?
Ice/Cold Sorc then.
What do I really want for sorc? Meteor-Disintegrate alike sorc or hybrid sorc in general.
Also Werewolf Druid is something I will play as secondary class

Whatever class/build that will be the “lazy boy”, the less I need to think the longer periods I can play!

I want to be a spooky werewolf or a spooky bone momma, i can’t choose.
How about both? When you get tired of one you jump in the other. Problem solved. You’re welcome. That will be $25.

Burn it with Fire Sorceress (and in a better world, where D4 had monster resistances, it would have some cold spells mixed in).
Stabby McStab Rogue
Melee Cold Sorc
Zoomancer

Right now, Necro or Rogue.
Start with the Barbarian, as usual, and deal with the others when I feel like it. I’ll eventually play all of them, just don’t know when.
Personally, I would try not to get too hyped up about a specific class until I get to play it.
Game mechanics and how the class and abilities perform for any specific class may end up being disappointing.
I will try to see how each class does and be willing to be surprised delighted by what I find, rather disappointed by what did not pan out.
As a Barb, I hope that I can go 2H frenzy with WW dual wield for clear.
I always wanted to make Frenzy builds on Barbs with 2H frenzy. I think the arsenal system should let us customise enough to make this build and WW is just good area coverage.
D3 frenzy stuff made the Frenzy an AOE which I did enjoy but I’d like D4 builds to really have multiple viable skills and situational uses ideally.
I hope there is a legendary effect that makes WW pull in enemies so I can use it to collect for my buddies.
My hope is that they moved away from the D3 way of simply stacking all damage onto one spam able skill to kill everything. I prefer that all the skills we select have value and that we can use a variety of attacks rather than just spinning along through every screen.
Being a DH main in D3, I will definitely do some form of Rogue first, then likely Sorc and Necro.

i wish they added the Amazon instead of Rogue…
and no iconic Paladin???
D4 dev’s are failing hard tbqh
but i guess i’d like necro so far.
jeez what a boring flavorless list of classes they chose… No Witch doctor? No pally? No javazon/speazon? I mean they could have stuck with the past tradition of cool classes and created something like Aztec Jaguar Warriors, Scarlet Witches, Kimono Dancers with Fan blades like Kitana, literal angel soldiers of Imperius… How about non-human classes? like Huge Trolls, and Succubi, and Half spider beings (the bottom half). i swear Blizzard should just hire me as a design lead, they’d make billions more.
