D4 Sorcerer /Sorceress

Am I the only one who really misses the arcane flavour in the sorceress in D4. Yeah it looks really cool, but I really like the concept in D3 where they expand the concept beyond elemental power and adding the arcane powers and skills- Magic missles, arcane orb, slow time etc…
I really hope Blizz add the arcane element to the sorcerers back
Peace

Hmm, i coulda swore thats exactly what they were doing. Giving druids elemental and sorcs arcane.

In any case, i agree and it seems like an obvious choice.

They remove the fire magic from the druid and focused in earth and storm skills. In the meantime the sorceress have fire, cold and lightning, but no arcane which I kind of miss…

I agree, arcane was an unique thing to have, and had many good skills, it would be nice to see some of those skills back.

As a Wiz main I’ll definitely miss them too. After playing D3 from the very start, for almost 8 years, I can honestly say I’ve pretty much reached the end of my road.

The thing about Wiz and Sorc being different is in their origins. The Wiz is a brash young spellcaster punk who doesn’t care about consequences and wants to push the envelope of arcane magic.

The Sorc is a seasoned veteran who’s more wary of the price of magic and prefers to go down a more traditional road.

I did not particularly care for the arcane/celestial bit on the Wizard in D3. To me, it was an example of losing touch with the gritty roots of the franchise.

I agree. They need to bring even more D2 vines back imo

The arcane damage type and/or skills can certainly come back, they could just make it operate as raw magic damage similar to the paladin’s blessed hammer or necro bone skills in Diablo 2.

Considering you fail to notice the Wiz and Sorc are two completely different classes, the only one out of touch is you.

Ad hominem on an opinion statement? Weak.

The Wizard is the D3 version of the D2 Sorceress, which is the D2 version of the D1 Sorcerer. That’s an archetype approach.

if you want to go with a lore approach, the D3 Wizard is a D2 Sorceress that rejected particular limitations on the teachings.

Moreover, it is impossible to call them “completely different classes” with the multitude of spells carried over from the D2 Sorceress to the D3 Wizard.

Wizards and Sorcerers aren’t the same thing in Diablo Lore. They are literally completely different things.

You should play Nox  Arcane magic could disintegrate the targets.

… I did not mean that a D3 Wizard is literally a D2 Sorceress. I simplified it. There is passage of time. The D3 Wizard is a student of same sort of mage teachings that trained, and flowed from, the D2 Sorceress, but the D3 Wizard rejected the limitations of what magic was considered ‘off limits’ and went renegade. D3 called these ‘renegade sorcerors/sorceresses’ “Wizards”. They are not “literally completely different things”. The Wizards simply wanted to learn additional magical arts that the progeny of the D2 Sorceress considered too dangerous. It’s not a terribly complex lore progression.

Can we agree on that?

Naah, let Arcane rest in peace

It’s even harder to balance if added back in game, one less affix won’t hurt, having one MORE resistance to take care of is the bigger evil I think

I didn’t reply to you so I didn’t direct anything at you. I was only replying to the original post and I haven’t read anything else in this post. My point is that giving the sorceress skills that the wizards used would break the lore distinction and there would be no reason for the separation. I don’t really care if they add the arcane skills but they should call the class wizard and not sorceress if they do.

Oh. I misread it then.

Fair point.

I disagree. While I do like the Wizard and his own aspects and arcane based abilites, Sorceress has always been my favorite elemental-caster in Diablo universe.
I am so glad Sorceress has make a come-back :grinning:

What will be the schools of magic or elements in this game? Fire, Lightning, Poison, Cold, Physical… that’s it? Will there be Holy and Shadow/Unholy?

We don’t really know yet. Everything is subject to change, there are two more entire classes that will be introduced for launch (5 total; 2 more than the three previewed at BlizzCon), and Blizz stated they plan to introduce additional classes through expansions.

That being said, as of the time of the reveal at BlizzCon, the D4 Sorceress is supposed to be fire, lightning, and cold elemental. I don’t think they said a whole lot about elements or types of damage for Barbarians, but did have some items that added elemental (fire, lightning, and cold) to their attacks. With regard to Druids, they said the Druid spells would not focus on fire (so no D2 Armageddon spell), but would focus on weather and storms, so maybe cold and lightning from wind and lightning storm-themed spells?

I just hope they bring back hurricane and twister for the druid.
