While ago I expressed my worries about D4 state at release from D3 experience but got called a D2 fanboy out of nowhere. Anyway here I come again.
D4 won’t have runewords and sets at release. Doesn’t matter if you like those item types or not, it’s about fact that they are cutting content that was shown to us at Blizzcon.
https://gamerant.com/diablo-4-item-sets-launch
“Shely explained that the reason why Diablo 4 would omit set items at launch was simply a matter of getting them right.”
We even got an official confirmation that the game will not be in “right” state at release. Say what you want but that doesn’t sound good at all. Good thing I’m not preordering. Learned my lesson after D2R server issues taking months to fix then game going on sale shortly after.
I also really want the game to be good and like what I saw about it so far. It’s the last hope for Blizzard. Still bad management unfortunately shows again and devs saying they won’t make everything planned and need overtime.
I had my doubts the moment they said they would be putting massive resources behind seasons. Chances are the game is going to lack content to an extent at launch.
But that’s not anything new for AAA games these days. What would be a first is if it’s lacking the usual Blizz polish. As long as it has that I think people will forgive a lack if content.
Hopefully whenever they add runewords, they are similar to the concept shown at BlizzCon 2019, only expanded with added rune types beyond just cause and effect (for example amplified, charge, and/or chain). Also I hope that it’d be mostly magic and rare items that really benefit from them, since from what’s been shown thus far, endgame will mostly consist of legendary (including rare items turned into legendary) and unique items.
As for sets, I do hope those will also be the game at some point, so long as they’re nowhere near as powerful as they were in D3 ofc…
Is it? DI has a similar feature but it doesn’t feel OP. It only made gearing for your character less frustrating since instead of waiting for Item X with 100 stat to drop for your character build, you can just convert unusable Item Y with 100 stat you found to Item X for your character to use.
So someone claims whatever as being true and you automatically take it as being gospel but are incapable of putting the actual Blizzard post, news, information that actually states it.
Insert “This is fine” meme. They are cutting off promised content but I’m sure battle pass will work flawlessly. You’ll be busy at D4 release reacting to avalanche of frustrated posts (happened with Warcraft 3 Reforged, D2R pretty much most of new game releases lately). Oh wait Blizzard mentioned they might not even make D4 forums too. I have only 170 posts, I don’t care that much really. Just spreading the word that people should stop preordering.
When did they promised anything? Everything is subject to change in developement. Just by showing a concept is not promise, just by talking about possibilities is not a promise. They promised that runes and sets will come, just not with the base game. Not a big deal. We’ll have plenty of mechanics and contetnt to play around allready. You’re just impatient.
It’s not impatience. I’m pointing out issues in game development, management, bad working conditions and fooling the customers. I’d be fine to wait longer to receive finished product instead of getting poor quality at release which kills hype and waiting year for fixes like it’s done nowadays.
Cost of base game is already pretty high and those features were supposed to be in it. Now what they delay it for “later”. Might end up in expansions and will charge more money for it.
Yeah as I say they just cut it and delay for later so what exactly will we get? It’s a mystery then. What assurance do I have after giving them money that they will add it?
One thing Blizz is doing wrong, is leting us see more how the developemet works. Back in the old days you didn’t knew about anything. You got the final product and you were happy. You didn’t saw the concepts that changed, and content that eventualy didn’t make it in the final product. These are all natural process of game developement, concepts change and contents come and go. The cons of showing these things, is the reacton of over sensitive, pessimist doomsayers like you, go bat crazy over them and instantly think it’s the wors case scenario.
Like runewords, bigger cube and stash, elite sets and uniques in D2 LoD? Why doesn’t that bother you. Maybe because it was 20+ years ago, and you didn’t gave a rats a$$ about the process of developement, because you couldn’t see behind the curtain?
As you mentioned I knew what I was buying so kinda agree here. It said 2 new classes on the box and they actually were in the game. Now Blizz announce Warcraft 3 Remaster, show improvements, ranked play. Then remove features that were already in it instead of improving the game. It got ranked after 2 years and it’s bugged anyway. Many refunded the game (there were troubles with refunding as well) and stopped caring. Can’t trust this and people shouldn’t preorder.
Pre-ordering is never a good thing. But people are stupid and they let companies take advantage of that. But it’s not the companies fault if the consumers are idiots.
