God, I hope it aint the same thing like it was in d2. I’m hoping its a self q and a different part from the pve side. Not trying to deal with a bunch of trolls just running around killing people and camping them right out side of town. It was a crap system in d2.
For pve players sake, I also hope pvp requires consent from all parties before they can engage one another.
I would rather have the hostile system from d2. If you would like to PvE just make a private game.
The same could be said for pvpers.
We could just make a private game to pvp in instead of hunting pve players.
Griefer alert…
This 100%…this is Diablo not dress up barbie… grow a backbone or make a private game.
The openness and freeness of D2 was one of the qualities that made it a great game.
They are going dark and gritty remember? at least thats what they claimed – i reckon they will disappoint on a lot of fronts there.
I’m calling it right now they will drop the ball on PvP just like they did with D3; and won’t give us free trade. 4 player cap; too much visuals akin to D3…game is already DoA with D2 veterans…back to PoE
Playing Diablo 2 single player (offline) as well as on multiplayer (battle.net), I experienced the same amount of “Dark and Gritty” from both aspects. Meeting Pkers didn’t augment that feeling, at least not for me. As long as Diablo 4’s pvp has more effort placed into it than Diablo 3’s brawling had, then it should be more than fine.
Don’t even bother, he and the OP just wanna grief everyone. No logic behind it other than doing what comes naturally to them.
It tells you as soon as someone goes hostile towards you. If you dont want to pvp in that game just leave it. Open world PvP adds another aspect to the game, a sense of always being in danger. Isn’t that what people want?
“Griefer” is such a lame term for someone who enjoys pvp…
How about the PvPer leaves and finds a game where other players do want to PVP, which would be actual PVP?
When blizzard announced D4 they said they had 3 pillars to live by. Darkness, World, and legacy. At blizzcon they said “dark, gothic, and medieval version of Hell.”
The world they are creating for us is going to be a very dangerous place.
Not having open world PvP in the game would be doing the entire game a disservice. Nephalem can kill each other and not everyone is out for good. Let people write their own story.
They told there will be PvP areas, so enter at your own risk.
But, they also told that there will be opt-in, which frees non-PvPers from PvP.
So we can’t really know how it will end up.
I hope the opt-in will be available across all the game, so I can PvP my friends or people willing to PvP on the most different places (imagine PvP during a boss fight! I like it!)
And I hope there will be forced PvP places, like some sort of lawless ground, where, if you are in, you are automatically opted-in. So, both
But very important, PvP zones shouldn’t be better that any other zones in any aspect. You shouldn’t be pushed to PvP just because PvP area has better monsterXP/loot/mechanics.
I think that making an opt-in option will segregate the player base too much. I am all for PvP zones, I think that will bring a unique aspect to the game.
I believe they said they were looking at putting GRs in the game which obviously wouldnt be able to be pvp as you have to join as a group.
I just think the D2 hostile option was the absolute best. 8 people could join the game (obviously I think this should be way more.) and you could party with only 2 if you wanted. Say someone comes in the game and tries to grief someone. You party up with another person in the game 2v1 and “grief” the “griefer.”
The opt-in could be just off PvP area.
So you could enter a dungeon inside a party or inside a PvP situation.
I’d love to be able to PvP in close corners and boss fights.
Back in D2 I had an amazing PvP war during Diablo fight.
We were 5 players and each one ran to a seal, after Diablo was summoned we hostile each other… I died fairly quickly to be honest… xD
Exactly, that sounds like an absolute blast! However, I’m sure the charge-a-din won every time LUL.
