D4 playeable classes

So they said 5 classes will be in the game. 3 have been announced so far Barb, Mage, and Druid. WHich leaves 2 left to be announced. Which leaves Amazons, Necromancers, Demon Hunters, Assassins, Witch Doctors, Crusaders, Paladins, and Monks.

Now with 2 classes left to be announced Im left wondering which they will choose. I have a strong feeling that 1 of them will be Necromancers. I mean from the huge fan base behind them to them getting added to d3. I feel like that will be 1 of the 5 classes for sure. Which leaves me wondering what the last 1 will be ?

So im curious which classes yall think will be picked or would liked to be picked.

Only 4 is disappointing, but I assume intentional. You need SOMETHING to monetize after release…

I wonder if they allow multi-classing like in Grim Dawn? Doubtful, but doing so would expand that 4 playable class pool.

Rather see 4 well balanced and fun classes then 7 rushed classes.

That would be very cool with a lot of possibilities

We’re still missing the Holy Paladin/Crusader, archer, and dark spellcaster. Launching with 6 classes would have been perfect.

Which class archetype will be left out?

Hmm hopefully they end up adding the paladin, Amazon, and Necro eventually.

Six classes would have been a perfect number for me. Personal sidenote, if a necromancer is not available at the start I’m going to respectfully hold off until it becomes available.

It sounded like what they wanted for the next Diablo was a long-term revenue stream. Class packs is an excellent way to do that; imho, and as such I’ll make my assumptions based on this being something I expect:

( thought it was 5 at launch, but I’ll put it in order on 4 and 5:

Confirmed:
Druid
Barbarian
Sorceress

So my two (or one) guess is:
Amazon / Demon Hunter
Paladin / Crusader

My assumption are then that the first three classes added are:

  • Necormancer
  • Assassin
  • Brand New Class

They said 5 Classes. They know they have to include the Necro. So really the question is what is the ranged class going to be? Rogue?

Amazon and Assasin have never felt very Diablo like to me and with this ultra dark theme I suspect they will lean towards something more like a catch all thief/archer thing.

I agree, but personally I miss the days when you could just get a complete game to play on release, with MAYBE an expansion in a year or two to encourage a re-play. Getting really tired of the, ā€œgames as a live service,ā€ line.

I think that it has to be Necromancer and Assassin. Here is to hoping that we later get Amazon as well.

They made it sound like 5 will come at launch, really emphasizing the ā€œout of the gatesā€ as in more classes will be added without a doubt.

I can’t imagine a Diablo game without an archer. They also showed a crossbow in the Diablo panel. I have a feeling the dark spellcaster will be the odd one out.

It’s unfortunate how limiting 5 classes is. When you add the Druid in, you force a critical archetype out.

From the limited information available it sounded like Druid will have the ability to have pets.

Im hoping 1 is at least monk. Man thats my favorite class in d3

Same, but costs of production of gone way up as well so I just see it as an unfortunate middle-ground. As long as the long-term system is ā€˜fair’ and done in a way that doesn’t seem ā€˜forced to pay’ I’m fine with it. Class packs seem like a good avenue to me to strike that balance but… yeah… that was a nice time in gaming, heh.

Necromancer feels like an assured thing, its too popular not to include. However, it’d be strange not to launch with either a Holy Warrior (Paladin/Crusader) or a Rangers class (Amazon/Rogue/Demon Hunter).

I’m going to go on the wild side and speculate that the last class added will be Horadrim, with three distinct sets of skills for ranged combat, holy melee combat, and holy spellcaster content.

Only 4 classes. Are they making this game on the cheap or what?

They said 5 classes.

I agree, it is what it is, but too often it isn’t done well, and too often the entire game itself is designed around encouraging purchases.

Also, I can’t help but call attention to the fact that games are high budget, but marketing is also (I understand) a disproportionately large percentage, and also that gaming revenue has also increased by many times also. I would argue that large budget games could be profitable as complete packages, albeit LESS profitable than the service model. Therefore, we will never again get that.
