Open Beta is literally for everyone once it’s up and it’s not

All we know, as of right now, is that the early beta will be available “early this year”. As such, I imagine that can fall anywhere from January-March (give or take some weeks probably).

If you have not received an email invite to the Diablo IV Closed Beta by November 18, then you have not been selected to participate. But don’t fret, public testing phases will begin early next year.

That said, I think the open beta will probably launch before our next quarterly update livestream.

I am not sure if quarterly is a thing anymore “the cadence will be upped.” I hope the stream is once a month.

Assuming that means that the frequency/quantity of the updates are increased, you might be right. Honestly that’d be pretty nice imo, especially if the streams have a wide variety of topics that’s discussed, such as game systems, contents/activities, lore (could simply be things to explain a bit more of the events that led to D4), etc.

Well they did say: “digging into the details behind the game’s systems, lore, answering questions from our community, and more.” I wonder if they will tell us ahead of time how Inarius escaped or do we have something to do with it in the game. They may cover it in the Book of Lorath that comes out at release.

Nice

I believe it’s the latter. We’ll the be reason that Inarius escaped, be it intentional or not.

I can’t wait to read that.

What would be totally cool is if they added and extra short campaign to D3 where we play out the story line that leads into the events that shape the D4 story line. That would be a great way to put a capstone on our years with D3.

You guys keep saying “open beta”… it really is going to be “open end game beta!”

Blizzard wants to keep 95% of the game ‘fresh’ for us when June 6th hits.

The beta should be at least 4 months long tbh. Otherwise it seems like they are repeating the D3 mistake all over again, releasing without testing the game properly.
I doubt it will last that long however.

I really hope that will be the case. The campaign should not be part of any beta.

Beta will begin when blizz sees they need a marketing and hype push.

Im surprised it hasn’t started yet. D3 had 5 months of beta but it was only the first 3rd of ACT1. D4 beta appears to be the prologue plus the snowy zone.

Open sure. That’s what they are for. Public, rhat will happen soon.

All blizz betas are nothing but PR. They aren’t for feedback because blizzard never listens.

Not true. How I know? I’ve participated in practically every stage of testing for every Blizzard game since my 2004 WoW beta invite. I have seen tons of changes across every game. I think your type of sentiment comes from not liking major pillars/design philosophies and seeing them go unchanged. Which is silly because thise will never change. But we have seen tons of change since 2019.

There will be adjustments where the team feels they can between the end of the last beta and the start of the new one. The. Similarly between the end of the next one and the start of open bata/launch.

SO have I and have many others who have reported bugs and issues that were never fixed until the final patch of the expansion. Blizzard only runs betas to make sure the game works, they don’t want your feedback.

You don’t understand development then. There are dozens of reasons why things don’t get fixed immediately. Time, money, or both. It may be a bug but it’s not a high priority fix. They tried the fix but it broke something else. They didn’t agree with the feedback. They tried the change and didnlike how it worked. The change requires a major systems change and just couldn’t happen until an expansion/major patch is pushed out.

Once we get to the 6 month out phase, it’s basically balancing, tuning, and tweaking. Unless something is completely broken, major changes are unlikely to happen. The narrative that devs don’t listen or xhanges don’t happen is lazy and untrue.
