D4 :: My One Request :: Bring Back The Devil

“Diablo” means “Devil” in Spanish. The first two Diablo games centered around this - the idea of hell on earth, the opening to the Satanic realm of Hell, and didn’t dance around darkness.

Do not feminize Diablo. Yes, women are badass. Yes, we live in a new era.

No - classical characterizations of the Devil are not female.

Remember the Satanic roots of this game - the real, tangible thought that there are people in this world (silly or otherwise) who actually worship the Devil. It makes the complexities and dialogue between characters that much more meaningful. It frightens us. It scares children.

This is a good thing.

I know you are trying to deliver the game in China, and they might have a different feeling about being able to express concepts such as “Satan” in media, and that you might be blocked by the Chinese government if you include direct reference to him.

But for God’s sakes - this IS Diablo. This IS what it is all about. I’m not sure what kind of writer I would consider myself if I was handed the Diablo franchise and couldn’t talk about Satan, couldn’t refer to the real evil (e.g. let’s just call them “Prime Evils” so we can get away with it in China?).

One small point - but if you’re really looking for feedback, fire this one all the way up the chain and put some thought into it. Remember your roots.

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say: I feel like you duped me with Diablo 3.

I won’t make the same mistake again, and will wait for honest reviews (not websites, only 'Tubers or other with non-biased feedback) before giving you guys another penny.
