If Inarius was freed from the chamber of mirrors and had time to recover, who would be more powerful Inarius or Lilith? Head to head with no help from others, both at full strength. Also if these two went at each other who’s side would you fight for. I am intrigued by Inarius so I would fight with him.
Hard to say.
In the sinwar Inarius was more powerfull, but a part of that power come from the worldstone, which not exist anymore.
But Lilith was not very powerfull in the sinwar too. She loses not just vs Inarius twice, she loses against Udyssian too. At a time he hasn’t reached his power to a max powerlvl.
So i think in an 1vs1 Inarius will win, because Lilith might is not just physical.
It’s more to be clever like her dad. Spinning intrigues. And some are saying, Mephisto is the strongest of the Great Evils.
Maybe Inarius is stronger while Lilith is more dangerous.
I’d side with Lilith since she’s literally part of the reason that I even exist in the first place and when my existence was threatened, she literally went mad and slaughtered all of Inarius’s followers for even considering the genocide of my kind.
Hard to say, as we don’t know much regarding their capabilities (for example, Inarius’s strength without the Worldstone or Lilith’s when she’s fighting to kill). We do however know of their feats (or at least some form of it).
Inarius had slain scores of demons, won many battles and broke sieges during the Eternal Conflict; it was to the point that many among the Heavenly Host refer to him as a Hero (likely not to the same standing as the members of the Angiris Council ofc). It’s hard to gauge Inarius’s strength after he abandoned the Eternal Conflict, as he had attuned himself with the Worldstone soon after the creation of Sanctuary.
Lilith’s feats during the Eternal Conflict aren’t as well known (along with her feats in combat when she’s serious), however she did slay most of the renegade Angels and Demons within Sanctuary when the annihilation of the Nephalem became a possible decision for the renegades to make. Of course, it’s not known whether she killed the renegades face to face in battle, or in a stealth assassination.
So in all honesty, I don’t know who would win in a one on one battle (especially if the Worldstone isn’t in the equation). Also, I don’t even know if I would want to join either of them as both are pretty much threats who’d use our characters and toss them aside once we’ve outlived our usefulness.
Is it true that Inarius is considered an Archangel similar to the members of the Angiris Council. That he is (was) more powerful than the average angel? What special abilities does Lilith possess being the daughter of Mephisto? If angels are light and sound how can Mephiste torture Inarius?

“He bound Inarius with tremendous chains and slowly tore the wings from the back of the angel. Great barbed hooks were then used to stretch out his once glowing skin and his features were distorted by vile powers. Now, Inarius is said to be trapped in Hell within a chamber of mirrors, his eyelids torn from his face as he is forced to gaze upon his misshapen form for all eternity.”
What if Lilith and Inarius just kissed and made up, and then went on to make Nephalem v2?
From the Diablo 1 manual, he’s considered an Archangel, and there hadn’t been anything further in the lore as far as I’m aware that’d debunk that. That said, Inarius’s definitely stronger than the average angel; however he likely fall short against the members of the Angiris Council (similar to how the lesser evils fall short to the prime evils).
Likely hate related/themed abilities. That said, an unique ability of hers seems to be that her essence causes the worst of living creatures emotions to surge out. This ability is stated to affect human, beast, and demon (and likely some angels as well).
That passage of the torture was described back in Diablo 1 manual, as a way to describe where the Overlords came from, so some of it is either outdated or has been retconned.
Of course, an updated version of it could be something akin to:
“Mephisto bounded Inarius with tremendous chains and slowly tore the wings from the back of the angel. Great barbed hooks infused with Mephisto’s hatred were then used to tear into and stretch Inarius’s essence as though it were flesh, causing his armor and appearance to become warped and distorted by vile powers. Now, Inarius is said to be trapped in Hell within a chamber of mirrors, forced by hellish powers to gaze upon his misshapen and broken form for all eternity. Visited by none except his jailer and torturer and his great deeds forever forgotten.”
History would probably repeat itself to an extent, with Inarius feeling guilt and fear over the new Nephalems and decide to kill or weaken them, and Lilith would grow furious with him and would likely attempt to stop or kill him. What happens next is beyond my guess.
That’s not going to happen since the entire issue with Inarius was that he viewed their offspring, the nephalem, as dangerous and a threat to himself. He wants nothing more than to destroy us. Unless a worldstone can be recreated, I’m sure he would rather destroy Sanctuary, than remake it with new offspring.
@Avalon, Inarius by far is the more powerful. Would he be able to see through Lilith’s deceptions? If he can’t, then she would have the upper hand. As for the world stone, I thought it was just a way to create Sanctuary and control the Nephalem. I’m not sure it gave him any actual power.
The worldstone had bolstered Inarius’s power exponentially. Before the creation of Sanctuary, Inarius was stronger than any angel, besides the Angiris Council members (who were likely his better). However with the creation of Sanctuary and Inarius’s machinations to attune himself to it, his power increased massively, to the point that he was able to clash with Uldyssian. Without the Worldstone, Inarius wouldn’t had stood a chance against Uldyssian when he had awoken his Nephalem birthright.
Ty. I don’t remember reading that.
Thanks for all the lore.
It is good to know who is doing what in the game we play.
- Unless you are a speed racer and do not care.
Np, it was mentioned in the Sin War trilogy, the last book I believe.
Lol, I am currently rereading that one. Haven’t gotten to that part. Must have forgotten. Been a few years since I reading them.
