YOu have a hard on for everything being locked.
I am happy you are not in D4 team or any arpg.
Fun fact, every arpg current available or will be has moved away from hard points & skills…Most fgamers today far prefer flexibility.

I find it disturbingly funny that a stinkin game can be so polarizing! Ha! D2 Haters D3 Haters etc etc. So I’m setting a new trend ---- I like em both.
BTW 35 minutes to Falcon Heavy launch from the cape. Should be nice viewing!!!
Seems like you weren’t around when people were screaming for nerfs to inferno? Complaining that barb never gets a nerf? And a myriad of other absurd demands.
Not familiar with how people behave on reddit.
I’m curious to know what these are, that are absent from D2, and which wasn’t already a foregone conclusion as to room for improvement (eg. smoother combat).
Maybe I am being irrational. After all no one who is knows they are. But I respectfully disagree. I don’t have fun with D3 anymore and I explain my reasons, like the game sucks here are my reasons X Y and Z. Give me a break.
Now it’s my turn to shock you. I actually enjoyed the crap out of D3 until Inferno got nerfed, and the game languished until RoS. Waste of time at that point.
As for RoS + necro pack? You’re telling meI can’t gradually build my skeleton army like in D2? And they’re invulnerable for some reason? Trash game throw it back.
Sadly a lot of that from those specific people. Can’t argue on the matter, so they attack people instead, and keep trying to drag all discussion down into some D3 vs D2 nonsense.
More and more D4 information seem to be emerging, and yeah, it is going downhill really fast.
I thought a fair amount of D4 info over the years seemed somewhat positive, or at least had potential, but now it seems like another case of Blizzard getting rid of the good stuff and doubling down on the bad.
Dmg numbers in the large millions, a hundred difficulty settings, repetitive ancient items, mindless combat, removal of most build choices etc.
Reminds me of something.
How did you come up with that did I missed the memo?
Lots of D4 “rumors” around currently. Can’t be talked about, so you are on your own ![]()
No problem, I’ll just attack D3 twice as hard then. And I guess they can either dissimilate from it, or perish with it.
Odd that you would face serious opposition here. I always pegged your wishes for D4 as the “happy medium”. For what it’s worth I’d sign off on your vision for D4, even despite that you don’t care one lick about PvP IIRC.
Wait, already? Well, so much for the asymptote model of power progression. Unless level 1s are tossing 100k damage volleys… Yeah, ridiculous as that would be, I’d honestly prefer the latter.
At this point I’m half-expecting “elective mode” to make a return by “popular demand”. ![]()
Successful launch BTW. Rattled the house but good.
Couldnt agree more. Luckily it seem that alot of these ppl didnt get d4 beta invite and blizzard seem to ignore alot of their silly suggestions.
There is though. U can discuss it in d4 beta. And also reddit i believe. However u can bash d3 as much as u want. Doesnt mean outdated mechanics from d2 will be good just because u prefer that game. D4 is a new game and not d2 remaster or d3 remaster.
There is d2r alrdy and d3 remake prolly comes later in the future.
In Dungeon Siege, the points were auto-allocated depending on how the game was played.
If player mainly used melee, +1 to melee on next level
If player mainly used ranged, +1 to ranged on next level
If player mainly used nature magic, +1 to nature magic on next level
If player mainly used combat magic, +1 to combat magic on next level

I like this idea of experience, implying inertia, but it prevents skills reallocation, thus prevents trial and error.
On the other hand, skill experience auto-allocated based on actual playstyle, can make any skill super strong, even the basic ones.
Ex: You mainly use Grim Scythe for 50 levels → You become an expert of Grim Scythe → Grim Sythe lvl 50
It is possible to refine this idea and grant a pro-rata xp to the used skills, according to their respective nature (cooldown, resource, etc) that impact the frequency of their usage.
Grim Scythe is free, so it should level up slower than Corpse Explosion that requires a Corpse.
Indeed.
Would be great if people were discussing it at such, instead of the same old D2 vs D3 nonsense.
That usually happens when the D3 haters show up on the forum. D4 should be new and not a rehash of the old. Sad to say the way things are looking that might not be the case. Not even one totally new class at launch…
It just shouldnt happen regardless. Discuss D4 as D4, and sure, that discussion can use comparisons to other A-RPGs, including D2 an D3. But those are D4 vs. D3 or D4 vs. D2 then. The D2 vs. D3 just seems to be based on bored trolls.
This was something WOW used for awhile and I liked it, their max was 400 (at the time).
I enjoy when the player power is from skill and not just gear.
Maybe someday a game will be created that get rid of player levels and just uses various skill levels instead. Hey maybe this is already out there and I’m unaware of it.
They made sense from a “lore” standpoint, sure, but they could be quite annoying from a gameplay one. Get a shiny major upgrade from a raid, whoops, never used that weapon type before so can’t actually do damage with it until you’ve swung at things for a few hours.
You get stronger without them. Your point is moot. As for your comment a bit afterwards, who cares about those players? Frankly I’m one of them for most games. If the game feels good without endgame systems in place and I don’t participate in endgame activities, I’m not missing out on anything.
Fact is, as you level, your skills increase your character’s power along with items you get at higher levels. You experience consistent growth in terms of build and power as you level. Once endgame takes over, you gain access to the paragon boards which enabke you to further customize you build. Sure it could have been added 1-50, but you really aren’t missing anything, especially if you plan to quit after the campaign.
Sounds like you are literally missing out on the option to further customize your attributes, in that case.
HA!, I actually did that! Got a one handed sword upgrade, forgot I had to go get good at it and went into a 5 person as the tank. Needless to say it was an instamess.
Yeah took a few hours, the few points are the most painful.
