D4 Imperious power

Hi i got question about Imperious power as he most op in council how he lost to Diablo near heavens gate if i play on max Difficulty ( pre ros ) at some point you get cinematic where angels fight demons and Imperious uses falling sword skill (like crusader) and 1 shots like 6 demons on max Difficulty! while nephalim with op gear takes like at least few seconds no way u can 1 shot them with bis gear so how in hell Imperious lost to Diablo if he like twice stronger over Nephalim all i can think off is Diablo got ultra mega lucky and rolled 20 on hit scored critical and landed devestating critical ? and Imperious can throw spear at Diablo and recall it like bumerang and teleport into distance so Diablo wont get him kinda stupid Council host where is angelic wisdom and strategy of war? test yor enemy and use most optimal strategy for war but no he like blind pupy rush to most op enemy in universe like mindless berserker kinda premitive for archangel or he was weakened right before the fight by some one or some how

Why do you think the difficulty settings and a stupid ingame cutseen have anything to do whit each other? Btw those were lesser deamons, and Diablo basicly became Tetameth again.

how many stupid cutseens you seen in this game? that lesser demon takes time to kill on inferno master 5 just 1 and he took them 1 shot 6 of them

As far as we got from the Diablo 4 trailers, heavens closed its doors long ago. You won’t get to see Tyrael, Auriel or Imperius in the next game unless there’s a plot twist of sorts. Imperious is perhaps the one of the most powerful in the Angiris Council but his weak point is that he’s too much of a hot head about justice.
There’s an incident where Council members finally caught the Diablo, but Imperius outright killed him to send his essence back to hell making the whole process in vain and shrugged the plans to get a bargain from hells off of him. At Act 5 he vanquishes a small horde of monsters for the Nephalem to lead them towards a runestone to access the ram head because he’s impatient.

His power and versatility maybe at a peak compared to other angels but his senses simply shutdown when he’s righteous. To add, there were rumours about how he supposed to be the big bad in expansion pack.

its about his power from cutseen he uses faling sword like crusader and wipes 6+ demons around one shot while nephalim takes at least 2+ hits to kill 1 on inferno master 5 so question why imperius lost to diablo near heavens gate why he rush to mele with prime evil if he can teleport and atack from distance with spear and stay in range all time like amazon

Maybe Diablo was immune to such holy based attacks from angels or damage wouldn’t be enough to wipe him out as he’s a Prime Evil. Another explanation is recovery time of Imperius after that slam attack would take long so he decided not to use it to put a huge target sign on his own back when Diablo dodged or endured it. Pay attention how Imperius talks to you after each slam attack to catch a breathe and Diablo is still a mobile target with tricks up his sleeve like bone prison.
You’re either thinking too much or there’s a lack of imagination about details.

You are conflating gameplay elements with story points. Thise two items rarely agree with each other.

My pont was that story plot and ingame cutseens dosen’t mean anything to difficulty levels. He kills them as easily on normal, as on T16. These thing don’t corelate.
I don’t know why i’m even wrinting back to this stupid thread, this argument is pointless. Explaining these things to you is like talking to a brick wall. And i have a strong feeling you’re just trolling.

Imperius is wearing the “Archangel of Valor” set that gives him the effect of one shotting demons; this is why Imperius can one shot demons despite them being able to take a bit more from the Nephalem. Diablo on the other hand is wearing the “The Prime Evil” set that pretty much gives him immunity to nearly any and all angelic attacks, hence why Imperius lost to Diablo.

But in all seriousness. Imperius simply was no match for Diablo. He probably could’ve lasted longer if he did attack from a distance; which would’ve bought time not just for the Angelic Host to better mobilize, but also allowed for Tyrael and the Nephalem to engaged Diablo before the Diamond Gates were shattered.

However as noted by others in this thread, Imperius throws reason and logic out the window when it comes to having opportunities to prove his valor in battle; which is why he engaged Diablo head on, got defeated, and watched helplessly as Diablo shattered the gates. In all honesty Imperius did very little to assist in saving Heaven.

Firstly he made (as far as I know) no attempt at saving Auriel, who was made prisoner of Rakanoth which allowed despair to weaken the angelic host. Secondly he made no attempt at closing Diablo’s Hell Rifts, despite the rifts being the source of which Diablo’s armies arrived into Heaven. Finally, Imperius wasted valuble time insulting and threatening the Nephalem, and even at the height of the crisis which had Diablo at the Crystal Arch, Imperius actually attempted to engaged the Nephalem instead of focusing on Diablo.

So unfortunately, the game does very little to actually show Imperius’s abilities as an incredible commander of commendable strategic prowess. Instead it does the opposite and shows Imperius as a reckless and inept leader, similar to how bad a commander Azmodan had looked like in Diablo 3 campaign.

So honestly, if Imperius, whether as an ally or enemy, ever does show up in Diablo 4 (be it the base game or expansion), hopefully he’s smartened up, especially if he’s an enemy.
