Are the D4 classes gender locked? If so I’m gonna pass.
Classes will not be gender locked. They will all have multiple skin options which include both male and female.
Some of the videos might not show that right now but that’s just because they’re still in pre-alpha. They confirmed that classes wont be gender locked at launch.
Thank you. What a relief. I just prefer playing make characters. And I loved the Rogue video preview.
It would be nice to change your character Look/Sex/Name/etc. any time you feel like, considering that’s all purely cosmetic anyway. If they’re doing all that, awesome!
Although… There are actually a few D3 achievements that require to use male and female characters separately to be able to get… (lol) This would solve that too.
If you look to WoW, you can change your cosmetic appearance through the barber shop for in game gold. You change your race and gender via the cash shop. I could see gender swaps and appearances available for MTX.
I don’t know they will go there for D4. If they make character creation and customization have meaning at the start, along with limits on respec, that would be more in line with an RPG.
However, as I am batting demons I am likely to get my hair singed off, lose an eye, acquire scars, acquire other signs of progress like tattoos etc. Being able to customize those as we go would be pretty awesome.
WoW went from never being able to change chars, to paid MTX to re-customize your char (looks and gender), to having that all built into the barber shop for in-game gold. Race change is still a paid MTX in WoW.
We shall have to see. For now we know that there is no gender lock on classes and that there will be a fair amount of char customization on looks available.
Classes are not Gender-locked they also said that the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye (women) is not the only Rogue faction. So I could be that the Rouge we play is from a different group that has both man and women. This can also be seen in some of the art that shows a male Rogue.
I have little to no conserns about genders in a game. It’s an over exaggerated issue.
Pretty much. It’s similar to the sorceress class whose female counterparts hail from the Zann Esu Clan while the male counterparts (Sorcerers in this case) could originally hail from the Vizjerei Clan; as both clans focus on the mastery of elemental magic. I’m hoping that the other classes get their own class quests that the Rogues are planned to receive, as such thing could go a long way at improving each of the class’s unique identity.
If I recall this was one of the questions at Blizzcon and Luis Barriga said the Rogues are the only ones to get these quests. I believe the quest is tied into the special ability that they get. Maybe they need to do something on a quest to unlock the ability.
You’re correct. However I still think that the other classes could also get unique class quests. For example, a sorceress class quests could have them unlock skills of differing elements (ice meteor, lighting blizzard, etc.), or a Barbarian could have class quests that has him assist the cannibal barbarians and as such gain a life steal effect with his attacks. Thankfully, while the developers did say that the Rogue is the only one planned to have class quests, they did mentioned that the other classes may also get them, although it may be possible only after the game’s released.
Any type of side quest that expands the story would have my support. I really enjoyed the ones we did in D3 with the followers and Shen. I wonder how many people do not even know bout them because they never “talk” to the followers.
Agreed, one of my favorite side quests in Diablo 3, was the one in Act 5 where we met a cultist member who had reformed and allowed us to take the treasure from one of the covens hoarding spots. So I’m definitely for more side quests as well.
Lyndon’s brother was killed by his wife, holy cow. How about Kormack going hostile on the Order. This was a great little add on to the game. If they did a patch to finish out the storyline that would be great. They left us with a cliffhanger. I really hope D4 has a lot of this stuff. The game should not just me about moving fast and one shoting everything.
Indeed. It’s a shame that we’ll likely never get a first hand look to see how Lyndon handle’s his sister in law, or how Kormac goes about to help his brother in arms who were wrongly affected by the order, or how Eirena may form a new sisterhood. More than likely the most that we’ll get is a novel or something similar that tells of their plight, or we may hear about it in Diablo 4 through word of mouth.
Worst outcome probably, it’ll be left to our imaginations on how everything plays out, and if that’s the case, I’d say each of them probably met a poor end especially with how Diablo 4 is planned to open up.
They won’t sell any cosmetic MTX if people can’t apply them so I highly doubt that.
It always makes me smile when they make a tattoo artisan in such games but forget to give her a laser to remove the old tats.
