The D3 barb they ported to HotS is indeed named Sonya. Quick image search because I didn’t know the character and now I get the reference! I much prefer that kind of pre-woke comic book art that actually allowed women to be shown as physically attractive as well as strong superheroines. I don’t necessarily need the battle bikini, but a healthy figure is a staple of fantasy games.
That’s another one I’d love to have actual data from. I can tell you on the two servers I played on at the time, there were a few people who went Dranei for the novelty or because the raid needed a shaman, but it was nothing like the popularity of the Belves on the Horde side. They didn’t just play Belf pallies. All of the classes were played prominently, and I’m not talking about making an alt and doing the starting zone. I’m talking about full switch to a new main. It was a major shift Horde side and not even close on the Ally side. Now, that’s the two servers I played on through the lens of my memory that’s a decade old now, but I remember hearing a lot of complaints on the forums at the time about the same issue on many servers, particularly since it was seen as a faction balance issue making Horde-heavy servers even more so. Like I said, it’d be interesting to see the data and see if there was parity in the data that I just didn’t appreciate or remember, which would indicate people switched for raid slots, or if there was a big difference in popularity because players wanted to play as elves instead of as ugly trolls, orcs, and cows.
It’s a game. If I want hard written lore where everything has to be well defined, I go watch a movie or read a book. I think, in a game, the player is mostly the protagonist and I want somewhat identify with the character. Looks are subject to personal taste. According to your argumentation, then lets remove also choice of skills, itemization etc. because somewhere it is written down in the lore, that this and that class character has this armor and that weapon and skill, so you have to play as is. No individual choices? Would be boring, or?
I find it more intriguing if the lore is subject to interpretation. That was also the case to me when I played d2 back then when I was a kid and now surprisingly experiencing the same as an adult with elden ring. In contrast to that, in D3 and most other modern games, lore-wise everything is spoon fed to you. I actually really enjoyed that story and lore is somewhat veiled in a mystic cloud and I think that also fits very well to a game like diablo.
If you did not hide your post history anyone could see how many times you have said “I quit” you are not fooling anyone. I am still looking for your proff or did you just lie again?
