Hi i just want to ask why not to give druid more versions of shape shifts like wererat werescorpion weresnake werelizzard werespider wereboar weretiger or some elemental forms etc…why to cap it only to bear and wolf ?and why not option for perma form if player likes it why not and why not to give these forms armors and some weapons like claws /fists if you can get armor to your horse i gues for shapeshifted form you can too.
Because it’s dumb and chilish LoL.
Not entirely. Various cultures around the world have many more therianthropes. Different animal forms can offer different abilities - a snake, for instance, could give DoT as poison and the tiger could give lightning or fire, based on some myths of rakshasa.
What is silly is to be adamantly restricted by ignorance.
Two forms are enough. Imo.
I’d agree that two forms are enough, but I’d like the ability to choose which two forms. That is, there might be 6 or so available but only 2 can be used at a time. It allows much more freedom and opens up more features. If it were done to make each form actually unique and desirable.
Yes but we also have to bare in mind that the class also reflects a certain cultural area, and age. When I’m thinking of shapeshifting into, boar, snake, a kind of bird like an eagle, native americans a pop into my mind, like Mayans and stuff. When I’m thinking about shifting into tiger, rat, lizard my fantasy takes me to the far eastern culture. So for me Druid reflects back the western europian, slavic, balkanic area and culture, and folklore whit the bear and wolf form.
Werewolf and Werebear is good enough for me.
However!
I think those two forms could be improved. I’m no artist so I can’t really say exactly what they’re missing, but it feels like something. Maybe more hair? I noticed both forms lack hair around the midsection.
That’s only because of the word “druid.”
If it was to be Slavic, then Koschei the Deathless should be an inspiration and that includes bird, snake, rabbit… not to mention any number of fey changelings. All of which are every much European in origin. Grimm tales include a number of non-wolf, non-bear, transformations.
But, it is easier to stick with the two “accustomed” varieties even if they are somewhat tired.
Than let’s also take in consideration what these animals embodyment. They represent strenght, endurance, blood thirst, rage and the shear force and wrath of nature. All the power that Drudis master, and the foundation of the class fantasy. While other animals like birds represent freedom; felines, elegance of hunting and itelligence; snakes, wisdom and knowlede; bugs, plague and pestilence.
mabe by unlocking in paragon system where you chose to change / upgrade basic forms to other kind of shapes
I think I got you. Not wolf form, that looks good to me. But I noticed in the female Druid video, her bear form looks off. First the head looks more like a molerat. Than it’s back is huge like a bus, but the head just sits there whit no neck and it’s too small. Like if you put a peanut on a grapefruit.
They’re ugly as sin, that’s why. The werewolf doesnt look like a wolf at all it looks like a hunched back mutant rat. Where the hell is its tail?
The werebear doesn’t look bearlike at all, it’s like some child’s attempt to draw a body builder with short stubby legs that only start where the knees should be.
The graphics for the druids are seriously BAD like… bad enough they will keep me from playing the game. I dont want my character to look like an 80lb over weight truck driver, i want to look heroic. I dont want my werewolf to look like a mutant hunchback rat, I want it to look mean and fierce. HOW THE HELL DO YOU FORGET THEIR TAILS? Just hire a damn fury artist or something to consult with what a werewolf or werebear should look like, it’s NOT what they’ve presented to us.
… because they formed the Druid inspired by D2?
Druid only had that forms in D2.
Diablo inspired by D&D open books check how many shapes got druid
It was inspired by D&D like many fantasy rpgs, but that dosen’t mean they have to copy everything 1:1.
i didnt said to copy but to add wht normal druids in D&D dont have its sorta lycanthropy forms not all druids fallow same path some want rats snakes scorpions spiders lizzards bats birds boars wolves tigers bears rhinos elephants and even dragons list is huge and why not to add these forms into paragon system 4 gates each got new forms depends on your playstyle
Does a man turning into a women count?
ohh good u reminded me some druids even go path of trolls its like bear with huge HP regen
Personally, I’m not against giving the Druid additional shapeshift forms, so long as said added forms are supported by the lore ofc. However, I don’t see any forms being added except for perhaps a raven variation and/or a plant-giant type.
That said, I’m certainly in favor of enhancing the werewolf and werebear forms (preferably via the Druid’s unique class system and/or passives), as they’re lacking from what we’ve currently seen of them.
Maybe because they never seen an elephant. And dragons don’t just waltz around in Diablo. What if they choose these two forms because wolfs and bears, naturaly inhabit the area where druids originate from? These two animals are the top predators of their forests, so they studied them to take on their forms, so they can take on enemies in melee combat. Because as far as I know druids in the Diablo universe didn’t trained to fight up close and personal. So they have chosen the two animals they thought are most capable of standing a chanse in melee combat, what druids lack.
