D4 discussion - Magic Find

I would really like to see that concept back. What do you guys think?

I believe bringing MF back would make you sacrifice another affix to get more items and this would change your build further or you would have to have a second palette of gear which would bring a good diversity of play style with your charecter. Thoughts?

Im not against it, but my current thought is the stat system is severely dumbed down.

Item stats:

100 attack
50 defense

Oh yea, that’s impressive.

I posted another topic on that just now. Altough I agree it is oversimplified, if they do not really bring Stats that matter for item reqs and so on, it makes no sense to have Dex instead of Str for increasing DMG.

From what I’ve seen so far, items don’t have str or dex. Main stats aren’t even part of the game… but they have crit chance :joy::joy::joy::joy:

Everything is just attack and defense. How stupid could they possibly be???

We should provide a solid argument for stats. What we had in D3 is way way worse than Attack and Defense. Those fake Str, Int and Dex are so anoying. But let’s move this discussion over the D4 disccusion - Stats thread.

Also me , i loved real mf of d2, that qas a real magic find . D2 is finished when battle.net was a dupe item realm. I hate d3 drop system with and no mf system.
Mf in d2 was real , baal boss rum in party with mf was great: 1 grandfather and 1 mavina deadem and many other legendarys.
So if d4 begins from d2 mf drop system and a SECURE battle.net trade channel , i will buy it.
if d4 begins from the bad d3 drop system and real money item trade channel it’s not the diablo return i want…thanks and sorry for english.

MF is garbage.
You use it to find good gear which you can not use then because - you would lose you MF…
The D3 MF concept is how it should be. Get better gear to do harder content, and harder content gives more drops.

Exactly, Magic Find on equipment simply sucks.

I’d rather have a increased drop rate with harder content than MF. Maybe a temp scroll/buff for MF.

Give a stacking MF bonus the longer you stay alive in the game. If you die, it resets.

I dont particularly care for MF on gear.

Depends on the PoV of the player.
Having a role play to have a magic find character solely to loot hunt seems reasonable.
There should be other kind of characters for example to be good at clearing waves, or other characters that are specifically good at clearing bosses.
Having a jack of all trades destroys the role play concept and having magic find without diminishing returns for item categories (set/legendaries will get affected lesser starting from a certain breakpoint) will surely destroy economy for trading since everyone will get every item fast and there will be no loot hunt.
Thats my personal opinion feel free to disagree.

This will only lead players to wear MF gear for 99% time instead of their uber and powerful gear that they have in their stash.

If, we have our own housing, which I though they mentioned, and out other characters get to hang out there when playing a different one, this would be a great idea from a gameplay perspective. From a must have a specific character to find gear for others seems like a chore. Just adding that for you immersion guys.

What if one wants to roleplay a jack of all trades character?

That Jack of all trades will still be viable but certainly will be not specifically epicly good as a magic finder, wave clearer, or boss killer.

But still would be a viable role play option

I get that, it think from a RP perspective it’s a good option. From a gameplay perspective it’s a waste of time.

Depends how the looting and itemization works as i said.
If there is tons of possible and different affixes for each different kind of item slot and crafting options through the looting system then this will certainly prolong replayability to search/loot hunt for one of your BiS gear, which is in the end optional but not a necessity to clear the game.

Just makes game easier, but its hard to achieve.

Diablo IV is first Diablo game made from beginning with consoles in mind.
It will be most dumped down Diablo game in history.

I agree with Shadout for this statement. This is how Sacred did it and it worked pretty good. Sacred also gave a slight boost to MF for any set items you’re wearing a piece. That way, you had a slightly boosted chance of getting the complete set.

Just clearing the air for whomever flagged this. MFer meant magic finder. Given the abbreviation and context of the conversation it should have been pretty obvious.
