D4 details leak from credible source on Reddit

Apologies if this has been posted — I don’t see it. In any case, this was posted on Reddit by a user with such a sterling track record for leaks that people suspect he may be hired by companies for marketing purposes. So, not confirmed, but very interesting.

Diablo 4 information leak [SPOILER!]

Hey there you arrogant nephalems! My servants…

Whatever, I got some news about Diablo 4 for you all and I think you will like it despite what’s been recently happening… If you don’t want - don’t believe me, especially since I can’t provide any sources for this… My “history” could convince you but eh - I won’t force anyone!

Diablo 4 is actually going to look dark, gritty and gross - no more rainbow shiny bull**** this time! Loactions are toned down, infrequently laid with corpses, wasteland, greyish deserts, clut caves surrounded by flesh, rotten crypts, marshes and bogs, plagued cities you name it. They are also seemingly much bigger, maybe even open? Characters now are able to ride horses (possibly other mounts), also there’s contextual interaction with environment ? - climbing a wall Lost Ark style. Blood splatters look more like blood and not splashed jam too.

So far i can confirm 3 classes: mage (uses fire, ice and lightning so far), barbarian (swords, clubs, axes, kicks etc), and druid (lightning, wind, and transforming into beasts - so far bear and werewolf!).

Possibly there will be PvP from the start?.
4 player coop is there for sure.

All this game seems to be is a W I N K to the Diablo 2 fans, Lilith being the new diablo (she’s covered in blood veil kinda), characters being shown sitting at a campfire as character selection, nitty gritty dark style that 2 was praised for, some skills also seem to be just taken from it and put in here (like sorceress’ charged bolt). I’m interested and hope they don’t **** this up. The company is bad, but the game might not be this time.

2 points with “?” are just because it’s not clear to me tbh…
let’s see what they say at the conference

no date yet too… sorry…
If any questions I will answer later

Brushie out!

MMO-lite?

So it’s a spin-off?

edit: Ergo… If it’s an MMO-life spin-off where Lilith is the main villain and landscape is so vast we need mounts to travel, possible it will not be titled as Diablo 4. Its release date should be 1.5-2 years away from the announce.

That will create rival to D:I on its popularity rise period but a year of average popularity cease for mobile app based game, people will wait so little to play Diablo MMO-lite. That’s one of the best route for them to take upon on a marketing perspective.

Yeah, I just saw that as well.
His posting history does indeed indicate that he is a legit source.

I asked him a few questions about the skill system, the attribute system, passive skills, endgame content and the resource systems. He hasn’t answered yet, but I also just asked like 15 minutes ago or so.

The horse riding really concerns me. To me it implys having to ride long distances to get to whatever it is you have to get to, when we should be on foot fighting monsters along the way. Fighting monsters to get to where you got to go is the very core of the Diablo franchise.

Yes and no — I could see it working where the world itself is vast enough that mounts are practical, while still having tons of monster-packed dungeons where your horse isn’t going.

The space between where you leave from to where you have to go is completely useless and a time waster. Soon as I leave town I want to kill monsters and I want to do that until I reach my destination. If I want to ride horses in an open field I’ll visit a farm.

That’s the game-killing mistake Metro Exodus made when it became semi-open world and practically forced you to use the crappy van.

80% of your playthrough was wasted getting to and fro, with hardly anything to kill in between except in quest areas. I was bored outta my mind halfway through, and forced myself to finish the game. Also big mistake because the ending was even worse.

Don’t like mounted combat? Might be hard to pull off and make it credible.
Might be fun too, depends on how it’s handled in game.
What would worry me (maybe) was how many stupid strange mounts could be ridden - horses ok, unicorns with starry wings, no thanks.

I am on the opposite end, not only do I want to slay demons, but I want to explore sanctuary and its lore. This was a feeling I have had for awhile and why I have brought up discussions about an mmo-lite or even and mmo. It sure sounds based on this information that it is not a full fledged mmo, and instead it is more like Lost Ark as noted, which is a freaking great game!

Imo, D3 ramped up the amount of monsters in area’s too much, where as I think D2 did it just right! Sometimes you would walk down a hall and only see 2-3 monsters, which was fine, loot hunting in the game was designed around this factor. Sometimes you went into a room and there were droves of monsters, which is also fine due to the tuning of the game. I think this random nature of “what is around the corner” adds an element of surprise and fear to the player.

I would lastly assume that at first we may travel in open areas on a horse or something, but would think there will be portals for us to discover in the open world. In the end, it is no different than D3 currently, except less loading screens allowing for a more seamless style of play. I also hope this means less stupid movement skills and a focus on vroom vroom, and more of a focus on RPG and a slow grind!!!

Before we draw conclusions on it, I think we should at least see it in action!

Is it still going to be Isometric?

I tend to think so but it’s just my opinion.
One thing I have noticed in the isometric games I have played, they tend to be flat. Height changes tend to be ramps or stairs, I guess this is due to the lack of 3D?? Walking up a hill then down the same hill the isometric screen does not change. I think this is why they are so flat.

So I’ll ride horses and climb walls for an hour or two then load D3 back up and grind some 120+ gr’s with buddies.

Addiction!

This is excellently said!

Great point about how every room in D3 had a zillion monsters, which took away from the “oh JESUS” feeling of opening a door and seeing a million goat men in D1 or D2.

And yeah, if we get Druid, I’ll die. I loved my D2 Druid soooo so much, hopefully I can still summon a wolfpack, a vine, a bear, a crow, etc. It was never a practical build but I always ran heavy summoning with some elemental as a kid, just felt and looked so cool.

No more d2 why? What is Hexen

That is what everyone said about Act 5 Westmarch city first until they starting to avoid doing bounty at Act 5 if possible because it is huge, and empty.

Yup pretty much the same for me.

Yeah I want to be hopeful and optimistic but past experience tells me to “lower my expectations”.

Honestly, I will be STUNNED if D4 isn’t announced. Like, totally floored. Not only have we had a ton of credible sources say it’s coming, but even without those, I’d expect Blizz to try to “make right” for last year.

This specific leak seems likely given the source but I’ll remain guarded in case the guy decided to troll for some reason or got bad info from his sources.
