Just read the 3D modeling article on the ‘by three they come’ cinematic and am curious about the choice of naming ‘the cleric’.
Kinda wondering if that was a name chosen by the art team, or are we going to see our first support class??? lots of speculation into classes already, and im probably reading into too much, but wouldn’t be too upset about it!

I’ll main ‘the cleric’ just like a main a healer in WoW. Nothing better than watching someone charge in full of confidence while you watch the expression on their face completely change as their health continues to dwindle and they struggle grasping on that hope that you will save them even at 5% life. Sometimes i will, but sometimes i wont.
so, uh, yah, a cleric healer in diablo i can get behind that.
They never would though, every class has to be able to self sustain in a game designed for solo play.

I thought the three were Druid, Barbarian, and Sorceress?
i dont really see it coming
still need an archer and then we have a knight and fan fav. necro fighting for the 5th spot

I heard Paladin and a rangeless Amazon for spot 4 and 5.
I really don’t see them ever making a dedicated support class. It just feels against the core philosophy of Diablo.
So far D4 still lacks ranged and pet/summoner classes.

Yea, I honestly don’t think its the direction they are going. However, if followers do make it into the game I think cleric would be a good candidate
Please no support classes. Actually better remove all “support” abilities from the game, or it will become present state D3 one time.
It’s just a stand in for what the guy is, a person of the church. Not a class. And frankly, support in an ARPG is dumb. Nothing wrong with having a healing ability/aura/secondary effect. But to have a healing class in a game designed to be played solo is meh.
Now if it is the new Paladin/Crusader class and it’s more of a battle priest where it wears heavy armor, and uses holy magics to attack then I can get behind it. But might as well just call it a Paladin.
I thought druid is a pet and a summoner class?
Unless the druid can use its pets as the main source of damage, it is not a pet/summoner class.

This completely.
From what’s been shown to us thus far, the Druid’s pets are on the limited side, and it does not appear as though players would be able to use the pets as the primary damage dealers in builds, hence the class isn’t a pet/summoner class, but instead a class with partial pet/summoning capabilities.

Or, Cleric, could be the third off shoot of the same order, not counting the Templars since they weren’t a player class. Maybe it’s the Clerics that think they are immune to ‘corruption’ only to be Lilith’s sock puppets. Oh the irony. At that point, might as well disband the Zakarum Order all together. D4 could be the last stand for the Paladin and the Crusader.
Cleric doesn’t have to be a support class, D&D clerics are very versatile for example. Moderate fighting ability + plate armor + a collection of buff and damaging holy magic.
They could make a cleric with offensive holy abilities (like Heaven’s Fury) + summon angel troops and other things. D3 crusader running around with Phalanx archers/swordsmen is pretty fun, although because of the crap item support it stops being viable in the mid/high torments.
I still don’t think Lilith is the big bad or even a threat to us at all. I think it’s a giant red herring. She is our creator and wants to preserve Sanctuary and her children. Sure she uses us from time to time, but I don’t think shes back to harm us.

Lilith goes full anti hero
Venom Lilith <3
Not like that would be out of character. She had always been the anti hero. She wants to save Sanctuary at all costs, more so by killing Demons and Angels than us.

i really like her character and i hope they dont screw it up, making her some classic mainstream villain

I’ll bet it starts off people thinking she’s the problem. As the overall campaign, not the individual zone campaigns, unfolds we find out why shes here and face off against her foes. I could even see a partial Lilith fight as she opens our eyes to the real threat during and we stop, realizing she is here to help.

Although I do like where ur going here, the tone of the cinematic leads me to think otherwise. That was way too brutal of an entry (summoning through sacrifice of blood) to be not be somewhat evil. Daughter of hatred, ‘motherly demoness’, there has to be evil there.
I do like the possibilities in her plot line however… she may be who she is, but those around her are clearly twisted. Lets hope these writer’s do her justice
